Question regarding trading balls on BR
« on: December 09, 2009, 12:16:55 AM »
I am working on a deal to trade a ball and have not traded before. Have completed several sales, but this is the first trade. For those of you that have traded before, how do you do the shipping? Does one person ship first provide the tracking number then the other ships? What is the fairest way to do it?

Both ship and both provide tracking numbers is the way I always did it.  It was never a matter of trust...I just have faith.  If the trader burns me, I report it on BR.  It's as simple as that.

Both ship at the same time as long as both have feedback that each is comfortable with..

Thanks guys. I am not worried just did not want to offend the other party by questioning how the process should go.

I'd first ask if anyone had dealings with the person here on Ballreviews. If I got positive feedback, I'd feel more comfortable.

But when trading here on Ballreviews, you have to have trust/faith that you are dealing with a honest person.

Mike,

You are one many know, even though you haven't traded.  If it were me dealing with you, I'd have no problems trusting you.

Someone else with no trades though.....different story!!

I just ship and send the person a tracking number.  Despite having multiple transactions, I've even done it where I ship it first and wait for the person to get the ball and ship theirs.

I wondered if it would be a good thing to just agree to send each other a small payment via paypal ($5-10, even 20) and that way you would have a confirmed shipping address and a way to track the transaction, but honestly, I've never really done a trade where I was that concerned if I got shafted!

I've done the same. I even have done it quite a while back with a guy who wound up being a long time friend. I shipped him TWO balls. He admitted later he was worried because he didn't know me. He actually waited until he got mine before he shipped his two.

Rarely is the ball + shipping worth more than $50. If you're that worried about it, don't ship it without some further qualifications from the other person, like qstick's suggestion, or many reports from people you do trust here who have dealt with this party.

AT this point, with all the reports we have had in the past 6 months, I personally wouldn't do any trades. I'd only buy from someone I know. I'd sell to anyone who pays me first, because that is the standard.
