Whats the "best" modern urethane ball?
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:54:02 AM »
Trying to figure out which urethane ball I should go for, for when the lanes dry up and generally want to play straighter. I'm leaning towards one of the polished ones (natural pearl and avalanche urethane). But don't want to count out the natural or the grenade. Am I missing any other urethanes out there? Which one hooks the most and least? And to go back to the original question which is "best"?

russ55,
Buy a polyester ball, i.e., Ebonite Maxim, Columbia White Dot, etc. That should handle the 7 pin.

I am a lefty also .  I am getting back into bowling after about 10  I am rebuilding my bowling ball I bought the Track 505A about 3mo. ago and just the Virtual Energy my next ball will be a spare Ball I to leave the 7pin and want to find a good ball for picking it up 9 out of 10 times .  I have the Old Blue Hammer but it leaves a lot of 7 pin. I only carry a 170 ave. but my plan is to get to 200 with in a year .   russ from tx

charlest +1,

I bought a Grenade, surface at 2000 Ab.

I'm a lefty and found the ball pretty much unusual (for my game), until I put a coat of Valentine Snake Oil on the ball.

I use it for 7 pins right now...my pro shop recommended a RG Mars, and RG Dark Star, drilled weak...I get about the same movement out of those 2 balls, but much better carry.

I did shoot a 700 w/Grenade when the lanes were really burnt.

forget about the Grenade and Natural, get a Seismic Desprado, goes longer stronger off the spot and carries much better than the others.
