Taking the Summer off...
« on: April 24, 2008, 04:03:26 AM »
for the first time in many years, I am taking the summer off from bowling.  I'm attempting to find a job/move and have a baby on the way...  I'm sure in a few months I'll miss it, but I'm actually excited about it.  I guess I'm getting a little burnt out.  Anyone else looking forward to a summer break?

I am only bowling one league in the summer.  This is just to make sure that I remember how to bowl in September.  But that is it.

2nd.  I've already quit bowling....well mentally anyway.  We still have two weeks left and I've shut it down.  I threw plastic Wednesday just for a change of pace.

I with Strapper and Scotts on this one.  I am taking the summer off of bowling for the first time in 10 years and that is all due to the excessive travel of the job I have.  But, this also gives me a chance when I am in state to work on the golf game.  Up here in PA is has been too nice lately to be stuck in a smoke filled bowling alley.

I don't understand.  You're talking about, like, not bowling?

I found that I now need to bowl or at least practice this Summer. It never used to be a problem, but my game has tanked.

As was said, summer is for golf, softball(while my knees hold out) hiking in Maine and a whole host of other outdoor activities. I love to bowl, but after 36 weeks I need the break, to get away from the lanes. Will start practicing again in August when I get back from vacation. Once I "retire" from playing softball then I may think about bowling the summer. We'll see....

Thread Hyjack - Sorry...

The 36 Week thing is why a friend and I designed a throw back league - 32 weeks...  Each team has a sponsor - Nationals dress code - it has made it interesting, but it is a lot fun still and I hope that we are bringing a little back to the sport - BTW this league was a designed by a 28 and 34 year-old and we have guys in the 60's bowling it because the way we run it...

Back on topic - I haven't bowled summers in 2 years - my wife and I like to travel even if it is in state (we are both teachers and have a few weeks in the summer to enjoy).  We do take our gear with to practice, but really we relax and destress during the summer.

Take the summers off. This year I am glad to hang everything up for the summer. I really need to figure out what I need to do with my game.
