Title: Nicholas Cage Throws A Gutterball
Post by: arakasi on September 06, 2003, 06:43:36 PM
I recently rented the movie FAMILY MAN. In it Nicholas Cage plays a rich
single financial yuppie who is forced to live an alternate life as a
tyre salesman. This movie is basically a remake of MR DESTINY witch came
out about 10 years earlier and starred Michael Caine and James Belushi.

In FAMILY MAN there is a long scene in a bowling alley with Cage competing
in league with his co-workers. He does rather poorly. Interestingly the
alley is filled with drinking smoking blue collar workers. Not the most
glamorous image.

After seeing this has there been any other movies that have come out
recentley that featured bowling ? This is the only one I have seen.

I cannot remember the name of the movie, I think it was "Greed" or something along those lines. Micheal J. Fox played a pro bowler at the start of movie, then he moved in with his rich grandfather. It was not bad.

Remember "Dreamer".  It was filmed here in Alton at Bowl Haven back in the 70S I believe.

Beat me to it SrK,

a pretty good movie that one. Im probly the only person my age who has seen it lol. I remember one episode of drew carey where drew and mimi became hustlers at bowling alleys. That was pretty funny. Brusnwick must have paid a bucketload to get the exposier, cause every single ball was a zone of some sort.

Good luck and high scoring
matt

I saw a Dr. Pepper ad during a football game today that featured Cindy Lauper and a bunch of hot young babes bouncing around in a bowling alley.

Is it wrong that I thought Cindy was hotter than all of the "hot young babes" bouncing around?

Don't forgat the NBC show Ed. He was a lawyer and owned the local bowling alley.

The Big Lebowski- Perhaps one of the best movies in the last ten years.  Jeff Bridges best work.

There was also a bowling scene from an alley out near Boston in the movie "The next Karate Kid."  Pretty cool seeing a place in a movie that you bowled in.

Oh, I forgot- Buffalo ’66.  Independent filmmaker Vincent Gallo stars as a very troubled young man who kidnaps a girl.  In the course of the film they end up at a bowling ally were it really looks like Vincent Gallo playing the forth arrow with what I think is a Danger Zone.  If you like your films a bit “independent” this one is a gem.  I think it came out around 2000.
