Title: Nothing hits like a Hammer?
Post by: ye3hawp0ny on November 13, 2007, 05:45:29 PM
do you guys think hammer bowling balls hit the hardest? its a good slogan for the brand, but i dont think its entirely true. any high performance ball from the from a different brand hits relatively well as long as you hit the pocket, i think. Sean Rash makes Brunswick's Total Inferno the best hitting ball in the market for example, given his rev rate and style.

It all comes down to what matches up best to YOUR game, the way you throw the ball, and making sure the guy who's drilling the ball knows what he is doing to match the balls up to your style.  Every company has cheesy slogans which have nothing to do with how the balls hit or carry, they are just marketing campaigns geared to get you interested their equipment.  BTW, Sean Rash could make any ball look like the hardest hitting ball on the planet, the brand of ball has nothing to do with that!

Would agree with Maine (as well as Nick, Del Taco will tear you up) on this one.

Storm, Big B and MoRich seem to fit my game well. But I have seen people throw Ebonite and Hammer and they hit hard. But I can nto seem to get them to hit at all.

Once you find a company that works well for you, go with them.

What they mean by "Nothing hits like a Hammer" is that they hit like a bag of marshmallows.

So yeah, nothing else hits as crumby as a Hammer is what they mean.

I think 'hardest hitting' is relative... and a very vague marketing tool.

On the same point about Sean Rash making any ball look like the hardest hitting. I figure that's why Elite signed "Maximum Bob" to make their overpriced crap look legit.

Out of all my balls the big shot just sends pins everywhere. Great carry and if you miss the pocket I usually end up with 9 at least. Tonight I threw it missed the pocket and had the 2,4,8,10 split and turned around and my friend was just shaking his head and I turned around and to my dismay I only had a ten standing. He has an EPX T1 another columbia that just gets some great carry. I have a Awesome hook that just crushes the pins. I think what makes balls hit harder or at least sound it is, coverstock and if the ball is reserving energy to give a good POP on the backend to hit the pocket.

it all in who throws the ball..........match-ups are critical as is confidence in what you are throwing.

i believe when you find a brand that matches your game, you will hit the pocket the hardest with that brand. i started with amf "angle" back in the mid to late '80's, then when to columbia when the "u dots" and "power torque" were the *hit --- then the "zone" days with brunswick in the 90's  ----- currently i match up very well with the "san antonio"  track equipment. to me that hits the hardest. but thats now -- who knows what it will be in the future?

Im wondering whats everyones definition of "hits hard"? Me when I think of it I think of pins being scatterd on the deck taking out the ringing tens or what not and some thinks the way it sounds. Just wondering what you guys mean when you say it "hits hard" cause I've got balls that will crush the pins but still leave a solid ten or solid nine but with my balls that scatters pins its easier to get lucky if you have an off shot.
