Oct BTM Arrived
« on: October 20, 2003, 03:26:15 AM »
Ok, my issue of Bowling This Month arrived today.  Let's see who is the last person here to get theirs.  BTW, I live in Arizona.  Did anyone get theirs before today?

Not yet.  I usually don't start looking for mine until the 25th or so.

OH - That's just freakin great - you guys RUB IT IN. Mine never arrives until the last day of the month out here in the SF Bay Area. Will one of you early-birds please post the rating numbers and relevant comments for the Slay/R? I'd like to know before I punch holes. Thanks.

please post the rating numbers and relevant comments for the Slay/R

OIL:  6/4/3   Medium:  8/7/5    Dry:  7/8/8

RG: 3.7
Diff/Flare: 6.4
Torque:  5.5
Length:  18
Back End:  12.5
Total Hook:  40

Edited to add:

Comments:  This has the same core as the Monster Bruiser but with a new coverstock PoweerKoil LS.  This gives the Slay/R the same hook pattern but much further down the lane.

Strengths:  Has exceptional length.  ...perfect for lanes that are really slow.  Even Stroker's slow ball speed didnt stop it from getting down the lane.

Weakness:  Higher ball speeds will have trouble on any kind of oil.  Dry boards a must for this type of player.  Most everyone will have trouble on heavy oil.

Overall:  ...designed for broken down patterns  and that is what it works best on.  Fresh patterns will cause this ball to skid through the breakpoint for almost everyone except those with slower ball speeds.

can you summarze the pros and cons of the barbed wire for me ?

Strengths:  The BW gets through the front with the best of them.  Length is not a problem.  Those that bowl on dry conditions will find themselves using this ball a lot.

Weakness:   Large volumes of oil will cause trouble for all except those with slower ball speeds.

Overall:   Slower ball speeds will love this ball on medium conditions.  Anyone that has above average ball speed will be able to use the BW on medium and especially on drier conditions.

Nice try there 'Hong Kong' - but we already established last month that Uranus is the last location to get BTM.

It's 10/21/03 and I'm still waiting for my BTM too.

The mail gets here in mid-afternoon so there's still hope!

Would someone mind posting the BTM info/pros and cons on the Cranberry?

RATINGS
OIL:  8/7/7
Medium:  7/9/8.5
Dry:  6/5/6

Edited to add:

RG - 3.6
Diff/Flare - 4.8
Torque - 6.5
Length - 17
Back End - 15.5
Total Hook - 47

Strengths:  PK18 coverstock helps ball get down the lane with ease and make a strong turn towards the pocket.  This ball provides a classic resin reaction when it encounters friction.

Weakness:  Large volumes of oil in front part of lane causes ball to skid too far before making its turn.   Extremely dry backends could also cause a little bit of trouble.

Overall:  Those looking for a ball with length and good back end reaction should get this ball.  Could be a baseline ball for many arsenals.

Comments:  This ball will standout the most on medium conditions.  Slower speeds will have more success on heavy oil.  Opposite will be true for those with higher ball speeds.
