Can a core/drilling drastically change your track?
« on: September 08, 2009, 12:23:19 PM »
Hey all,

I recently bought a LevRG and was instructed to drill it with the pin above and in the middle of the bridge. I normally never could use a drilling because of the pin-to-pap length was too great. I track high and pins in that position would cause the ball to react inconsistently at best. After throwing the LevRG, I noticed my track is med. to low ( at least 3" away from the fingers). I throw my other stuff and the I track high. Is the core that dynamic that it pulls my track way down? Or is it just the high pin position that brings it down?

Whatever the case, how do I layout future balls when my track and pap can change drastically with the strength of the core?

I suspect the LevRG is absorbing the oil so fast that the early track rings have disappeared by the time the ball gets back to you.  --  JohnP

Strong asymmetrics also flare in the air, so the first ring or two may never see the lane.  I track lower with my strong asymmetrics as well.

If you compare your track on a 3-piece plastic spare ball and a simple symmetric cored ball you'd note a difference in PAP locations.

The same can be said when comparing a symmetric ball to a strong asymmetric ball.
