Span Question
« on: September 02, 2016, 11:52:29 AM »
So I am a no thumb bowler who is looking to making a switch to using my thumb for at least my spares (And at least practicing with thumb) so I am looking at get 1 or 2 drilled. My first ball i brought was drilled with a thumb and the guy drilled my span way way too short. I know for a fact my span will be at least a 6 (Hand measures around 9 inches). so my questions are

1)Do most drillers know how to drill longer spans or should I go searching for someone that knows how to drill for a longer span?

2)I was told I should find balls with the longer pins. Is this true and if so what length should I look for

3)How does using a slug or an IT thumb differ from just a regular thumb hole?

4)Also trying to upgrade my arsenal any ball suggestions along the lines of what I have now?

Any advice would be

Yo E.T.,
If your span is really 6" then more than likely your thumb is too long to use any interchangeable thumb systems.

Could you take a picture of your thumb in the ball and your fingers relaxed over the finger holes? 5.5" span is a big hand, not impossible, but not the most common. Where are you located? Maybe we can help point you in the direction of a knowledgeable pro shop.

This is one with my hand in it.  Hand gets stuck and I cannot get a good feel or grip right now.

Your prolly gonna need to decide if it's drilled for your right or left hand, then you need to find a fitter that understands pitches or you will never get out of the ball clean with your thumb in it.

You must find someone who knows what they are doing, even if you have to drive further than you would like.
Your fit is the most important part of the equation, without it, you will continue to have all sorts of problems

It's drilled right handed. Just the angles of the pictures lol

The angles of the pictures maybe different, but that first picture is of a right hand on the ball and the 2nd picture is of a left hand with the fingers in the ball.

You don't need holes. Just palm the ball.
