When it comes to inserts (if you use them) what is your preference...
Using inserts the same color of the ball so they blend in and you can't see them
OR
Using inserts that stand out and can be easily seen
just curious what thoughts people have on this topic...

I only use black inserts (and slugs). I used to use yellow or white inserts but have since found that I prefer not seeing the grip revolving around the ball.

I use either black, blue, yellow or clear. Depending on the ball color...
Those are the only choices Next Level PS gives me!
The clear ones own.

I mostly get green, yellow, and white. I'd rather have Black or I want to try the clear ones, but I never remember when I'm actually get a ball punched up lol.

i match the writing on the ball with grips.
my passion has yellow and my white dot has white.
-
I pretty much use yellow, but the color doesn't matter to me. I would use 3 different colors if that's all that was available.

I have found that different color grips FOR ME sometimes feel different. To keep it simple, I just use black grips and slugs now. They don't always match, but they all feel good to me.

I try and find the inserts that clash the most with the color of the ball. Pink w/ blue, orange w/ green, etc.

Well it depends, if the place has different ones i'll go with bright colors so you can see them, but I normally just take white, I really would like to use clear but i've never been to a shop that had clear ones.

I prefer them to match the ball if possible but if not then it really doesn't matter that much to me, except pink, that's the one color I don't much care for concerning bowling ball grips.

I use clear grips exclusively now and go with black slug (unless the shop is out of them, in which case I use whatever is available).

yellow or black.
for some reason i cant stand using the clear grips. They gave me a little squishy feeling and i changed them out for yellows and now my whole arm doesnt hurt(like the one night i used the clear ones). My teammates also have had this problem with the clear grips and thus replaced them.

All black for both grips and slugs.
-
Turbo Quad Ice....nothing but the Ice.
I use the Grip Loc thumb so my thumbhole is usually either yellow or black.
For those commenting on the clear inserts...yes they are softer and also a bit tackier. Perhaps those 2 factors may be the issues you are having with them.

Used to match the inserts to the color contrast of the ball. No one really cares these days. I'm beginning to like the Vise standard Black and Clear inserts. But then again, when feeling style conscious... love colors Green or Purple. Don't care for yellow or white. Black or Clear these days.

I match slugs with the logos on the ball (RS-1 has yellow, Silver Streak SE has white, Epic Battle has white, Yellow Dot has red). Grips, I prefer white due to feel (I've had problems with yellow, purple and orange before...they just don't feel the same). My Yellow Dot has black, and those aren't bad.

I am among the other fashion plates here... I match grips/slug to ball color/logos. Except when it comes to White Dots, no matter what color the ball, the grips/slug are ALWAYS white.
I want that Blackberry White Dot. Pretty!

i only use vise grips and vise urethane thumb solids. i used to match the finger grips to the colors of the logos on the ball but now i use the clear grips----no problem finding the right size in the right color. i still match the color of the thumb solid with the logos on the ball.
-
I refuse to use anything other than bright colors.
My driller put black grips and a black slug in a dark ball once, and it looked like a hovering round mass that just levitated down lane.
I can't tell when I've over-turned the ball or any other improper release until I see the reaction of my ball. Seeing the grips and slug rotate tells me if/when I threw it right. I do not pay attention to my release, it's purely subconsious at this point, which is how I want it.
With that said, when I do see a bad release, I spend a little time before my next shot thinking about it and picturing a proper release to hopefully not repeat it.

I try to coordinate them with the ball, whether it's logo colors or cover colors. My TL has orange and purple (blue?) inserts and a yellow thumb sleeve because the ball is orange and purple with yellow lettering.

bright contrasting colors on solid balls, black on bright multi colered balls.I like to watch the rotation of my balls as the travel.

I'm not bad,I just bowl that way.

I usually match the grips and slug to the balls letering . Although i sometimes use pink grips just to have fun.

I use Black grips. I don't use any other colors but black.

Turbo Quad Ice or black for the grips, and Black Vise Easy Urethane (i think that's what they're called) slugs.
There is something about the feeling of the Ice gtips and the Black slugs that I LOVE.

My local pro only offers white, black and purple Vise inserts...
For wtaching ball recation, I really like white finger and thumb inserts, especially on dark balls. Black looks, cooler, though. I hate the purple color, but I must admit that these are the most durable and best gripping version. The white and black stuff seems to be slick silicone, while the purple inserts are rather matte or porous? Well, optically they only match a few balls (like my Trauma). But I will take whatever is currently at hand - and since I have thin fingers and need smaller sizes, a color matching choice is almost never a problem.

Back when I used grips, I told my driller there was only one rule. The color doesn't matter as long as they do not match any color on the ball or each other. Now I only have a thumb insert so white it is.

I'm getting all white, slug and tips, in my Dark Thunder. It looks like it's wearing a tuxedo.

turbo quads-any color except white. I dont like how the white ones look when they get dirty
-
Vise clear slugs and no preference with grips, as long as they match. I hate two different colored grips.

Turbo Quad Ice is the grip of preference. I hate slugs, so I opt for the mold and make it out of quick plug for that super fast release.
-
northface28, you're surprised that people still use grips ? you watch the pba on tv, don't you ? the best players in the world use grips---walter ray williams, jr., parker bohn III, chris barnes, pete weber, tommy jones, etc. if players at this level use them there must not be something "wrong" with them.
-
definitely plain black inserts and slugs! i got tired of my buddies saying they like my white stripe on my ball when it went down the lane! it just isn't right having to apoligize for your rev rate.

I like bright inserts in my equipment.I like revving the ball up and watching them rev it makes it easier to see how the ball is rolling. If a track is hard to pickup on the ball they are usefull also...

I try to have the inserts and slug match the color of the ball as close as possible when I am not testing. I will also have two different insert colors for identification. When i am testing things I like them to stand out so I can see them. Just depends on what I am bowling.

Greg,
I said that "tongue in cheek". Relax. There is nothing "wrong" with grips. However I must say, your mention of accomplished tour players using inserts is comical. Most if no all those guys you named are on some sort of grip staff. Im sure most if not all of us would use grips if we were getting 15K/year to do so.

I only use white(vise), it seems like I have to use the next size up when I used other colors.
