Other things in bowling that need to be banned......
« on: May 13, 2014, 09:07:38 PM »
1)  Wrist supports.  These should only used as a training aid and not allowed in sanctioned competition.   Unfair to those who actually have strong wrists and hands.

2)  High tech bowling shoes.   Unfair to those who can't afford them.

3)  The use of throwing a reverse hook.  (Backup ball)   Unfair that these people have the option to use the other side of the lane if they choose.   (Like Robert Smith when he won the Japan Cup.)

4)  Excessive ball speed.   Everyone should roll the ball at 25 mph or less.   (Not everyone is a freak of nature fireballer like Eugene McCune).   Those of us that roll at a 'normal' speed are at a disadvantage.

5)  Any ball that thumps over the thumbhole on spare shots should be declared illegal.  Not everyone can roll the ball end over end and not miss a single-pin spare in over two seasons like Walter Ray.

6)  Any backswing that goes over the bowlers head should be declared illegal.   Most of us would dislocate our shoulders trying that.

So, everyone should use their thumb, wear house shoes, and gently stroke the ball up the 2nd arrow.   Have fun!

I see what you did here, funny.

Let me add, and I am being serious. In order of which it grinds my gears, here we go:

1) White Belts, I have no idea who started this crap but his trend is so ridiculous, its sickening. When I find the person responsible for this I promise to strangle them with their white belt.

2) Bowling with a towel hanging from your back pocket, you look like a damn hillbilly, take the towel out of your back pocket.

3) 4 ball rollers and even worse the ultra dorky 6 ball roller. These albatrosses are flat out gross and an eyesore. Not only that, they take up too much space on the concourse, did I mention they are super dorky?

4)Walking out shots in practice, do I need to explain this?

"Stacked Leverage" drillings.

I honestly thought this died in '04. Yet, I come on this site and read "I drilled my Hyper Cell stacked leverage, I bowl on wood lanes, its goes long and flips hard". Sure buddy.

About 75% of balls I see on the for sale forum, eBay, and Facebook groups are drilled stacked. No wonder you're selling it after 2 games.

Is that the fault of the bowler or the ball driller?

Short of banning the white belt, if you wear one the first number of your pant size should be smaller than the second number.

Delirious?  Yep.

Just trying to be funny here.   If the governing body ultimately decides to ban no-thumbers & two-handers.... might as well ban everything else that's a little out of the ordinary.

What really bugs me is that I've seen no-thumbers and two-handers since the late 80's, so the technique has been around awhile.   But only recently has some guys been successful with it at our highest levels.   I believe that if Belmo wasn't kicking butt on tour right now, no one would really give a rip about it.

Calling something a negative pin makes me want to put you on a spit and shove a rosin bag in your mouth. The term "drilled straight up" too. Guys that are on staff and still say they drilled something 1/2 side 1/2 finger.

I so absolutely love this post!

As I love two handed bowling!
I love high Backswings, Pete Weber!
I love stacked leverage and revs leverage drillings!
I love finger thumb and side weights.  More coming from the USBC on this shortly!
I want 2nd tier shoes in wide!
I like to play deeper than the second arrow(lefty).
I love to use a wrist brace!

Best post ever, yes I did get the sarcasm.

Finger inserts and interchangeable thumbs need to be on the list, even though I use both! Bowling balls that don't have a pancake weight block needs to be banned, as does the reactive coverstocks. Let's not stop here, let's go back to how it was done in the early days and you can only use one finger hole and a thumb hole. Let's not allow the high tech lane machines and go back to bug sprayers or the old style lane machines. How many guys have bowled in centers that used a bug sprayer?

Just ban the USBC.  It's time for something new.  We need someone to grow the sport and not just piss on the members and tell us it's raining.

if this isn't funny to you, especially (real men don't wear) "white belts" and this post....you're old and maybe take bowling way too serious.
