pap and axis tilt
« on: November 02, 2018, 09:28:07 PM »
I did some measuring tonight, and found that my pap is 4 inches over and 1/2 inch up, but when I measured the track to see how much tilt distance was 11.5-12.0 inches, anyone have any thoughts if this seems logical, I do track the ball fairly low compared to finger and thumb holes. I'm not sure about rev rate probably about 350.

Are you sure you traced the first oil ring(the one closest to your fingers) all the way around?

I thought I did but it was hard to see oil track on back side of ball, tried 2 different balls. I'm guessing that the axis tilt is probably not accurate.

I prefer this option for axis tilt and rotation

It could be.
While, for the vast majority of bowlers, a lower track will correspond to a higher numerical axis tilt, it is not 100% correlation. Several PBA professionals have low tracks but also have low axis tilts. So it is possible that while your track, 4" over, is low, your first diameter oil tack could be accurate at 11.5 - 12" (10-13 degrees axis tilt).

This only seems to show axis rotation, not tilt. They tell you to buy other software to find the tilt.

Has both. Just need to do a photo overlay with with your phone or desktop. I use my phone at the bowling center.  Takes only a few minutes.

To confirm your PAP location put a piece of white tape, about 1" square on it.  Have someone watch while you throw it.  If the location is correct the tape will look like a dot on the ball when you first release it.  --  JohnP
