Title: PBA League telecasts
Post by: Bowler19525 on September 28, 2020, 10:11:32 AM
Overall the live PBA League shows have been fun.  The artificial crowd noises, however, need to go.  Sounds just like the background crowd noises used in most sports video games and is really kind of cheesy.

Wonder if Brad Angelo will get a fine for his "colorful language" last night?

Looking forward to tonight's broadcast!

Good matches. A couple of roll-offs. I could do without the canned background noise.

Agreed.  Good to finally see some of the new releases go down the lane.  Thought the Aero in Sherman's hands looked really good.  Even though Belmo was striking, I wasnt all that impressed with the Rubicon but as soon as he pulled out the Trend, my first thought was that Belmo and Storm hit a home run with the cover/core combination.  By far the best signature ball they have designed.  I was not able to see the show from last night but do have it recorded.

I agree.  The Rubicon didn't seem all that impressive from anyone using it (and there were a good number of Storm/RG staffers throwing it.)  The Aero did look good for Sherman.

Rhino was throwing the BIG Bowling Shim Wrecker and it looked pretty good for the limited shots we got to see of it.  It will be interesting to see if BIG Bowling can make a go of it.  The fact that they paid for PBA approval right from the start seems like they are committed to going all-in.

It will be interesting to see Smallwood using Motiv tonight and how it rolls for him.  We got to see Andrew Anderson using the Radical Zing, and I thought it looked good for him compared to his pre-acquisition EBI reactions.

When I look at ball reactions I pay a lot of attention to the release of the person throwing it.  Guys with 500 revs can make a lot of stuff look good.  I thought the best ball reaction on the show was Shannon O'keefe.  320 revs with medium ball speed yet she was able to get better continuation off the dry than some of the guys with stronger releases and more speed who were getting roll out.  Not even sure what she was throwing.  It just looked good

Turned the volume off after a few minutes.  It sounded like they had a soccer game on the TV while in the booth doing the show.  Maybe low volume of background music would have been a better choice or nothing at all but the announcers

I’ve been disappointed with the spare shooting so far, too many corner pins being missed.

There have certainly been a lot of corner pins left.  One has to wonder if the bowlers are using equipment that is a tad too strong for the shot.  Aero, Rubicon, Zing, Jackal, etc. are all really strong balls.  One has to wonder if the bowlers were to use something more in the upper mid-performance range of whatever brand they throw, and migrate back to the right, if they could kick out the corners a little better.

Overall, though, the matches have been exciting to watch!

Pattern was totally over blocked for the high rev game played by the PBA guys.  I suspect it was done to help the gals with their lower rev rates .  still overall high scoring but transitions got tricky and lots of guys forced to play extreme amgles

Which explains the choice in using stronger covers in my mind to try to control the overreaction off the dry a little. It's actually why I think the new Forge looked pretty good for the Motiv staff. Strong, lumbering core with a cover that's on the stronger side

Its probably a modified THS so scores are high, hence why when the touring guys bowl league when they are home, shoot crap cause all their stuff is too strong and not set-up for the wet/dry house shots. When Connor Pickford lived in Dallas briefly, that's what he claimed when he shot bad on our THS saying his stuff isn't set up for league shots.

What ball was Bill O'Neill throwing? Really liked the way it came off the break point and the roll thru the pins.

Surprised none of the Storm staffers weren't rolling anything below the Master line, and something in the Thunder/Hot lines like a HyRoad or Electrify? I think I noticed Francois Lavoie rolling a Hustle PBR for maybe a frame or two but that's about it.

Sounds like Ildermaro Ruiz may have gotten himself a fine from the PBA after what he yelled after striking in the 7th frame of game 3 last night. lol

I believe I heard on Beef & Barnzy podcasts that shows were actually taped.  Competition was good and glad to see some new shows.  I have an issue, possibly with my cable provider, but I taped all the shows and several of them ran long.  I was watching the finals this A.M. and got to completion of game 4 before my DVR timed out.  I would think FS1 would have broadcasted their shows to be the time slots.  I looked for re-broadcast and there isn't one scheduled this week...........not interested in knowing the outcome just look forward to see how this played out and all upcoming shows.

They seemed to be Live telecasts...at least the graphics on the screen said they were Live.

I was watching a repeat of one of the shows and noticed that they had that 'and now due to time constraints, we join the show in progress' or some such wording and they had skipped several frames to fit the show into the two hour time slot.

I had the same issue when DVRing the shows.  From the first night of quarterfinals; I set the DVR to record the entire series.  I believe it was the show with Angelo and AJ Johnson going back and forth.  Got to about the 7th frame of the last game and the DVR cuts off asking me to watch again or delete the show.
