PBA Membership, ball ordering
« on: November 01, 2006, 02:14:56 AM »
So what exactly is the protocol for ball companies to ship out new releases to pba members.  When I had originally got my pba card, in all of my paperwork, etc, I was told that pba members would have access to new equipment at discounted prices before it is released to the public.  With that being said, here in lies my dilemma.  I throw mostly Storm equipment, not because I'm Stormhead, or anything like that, it just happens to match up better with my game than most other companies.  I called up the other day to order their 2 newest releases, that were scheduled to be released to the public on Nov 10th.  But yet when I ordered it, Storm told me they could not ship the ball before the 10th.  Since I am on the east coast, I wouldn't get my ball until the following week at the earliest.  Meaning that John Doe could walk into his pro shop on the 10th, buy this ball, drill it and be using it, a full week or 2 before I can.  This does not really make sense to me.  I pay my dues, and think that I should be able to throw the ball before its released to the public.  Membership should have its priveledges.  Its not like I'm asking Storm for free test balls or anything, but its also not like my testing of the balls does not help sales.  I mean, the day I drilled my Domination, 3 people ordred them, strictly because they loved the reaction they saw when I was throwing mine.  I guess I just needed to vent a bit.  Any input anyone has on this issue would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks guys.

I guess I look at this different than you. I joined the PBA for alot of reasons, just one of the reasons being getting a great deal on equipment. If its delayed a week or so, no big deal to me. I know I am still getting a better deal buying direct than I could get anywhere else. I personally have not had any shipping delays ordering theu Hammer/Ebonite. I always get my stuff fast and usually before any pro shops.. Brian and Ed are top notch guys to order from..

As fas as how Storm handles their ordering and shipping, I have no clue as I don't throw Storm stuff..

Also, being a PBA member is not that big of a deal anymore. They lowered the average requirements and waived the initiation fee last year to get as many members as they could.. Its not like it used to be and I know that..

One day when I grow up I hope to be able to throw the ball AND carry as good as g_thing!!

Yeah, I know they lowered the averages requirements and all that stuff so they could get more members, however I was not one of those guys that snuck in because of the lower requirements, lol.   I like to get my stuff sooner for a few reasons.  One because I like to check out new stuff, and two, that when it is mentioned that new stuff is being released, countless people always come up to me and ask my opinion, and its tough for me to give one if I have not thrown the ball.  As for the Ebonite stuff, its been hit or miss with them. I have ordered a few balls from them, and had no problems, and I had one order that I never receieved at all, so needless to say I was not to pleased with that.  I do know our local guy here, I believe his last name is Farley.  I've met him before, and he's a real top notch guy

I buy Columbia balls off and on through out the year and once they are in the PBA newsletter I get them in just a few days. I ordered my Action Attack on Monday, had it on Thursday and it didn't hit the web for another week or two. I think a lot of how fast depends on the company getting the shipments out to the distributers and timing. Get in before they start to ship and you can get it pretty quick once they start the run, order while they are getting that first shipment out and you may have to wait until the second run. The later happened to me on the EPX.
