Chacko's Family Bowl
« on: August 08, 2006, 01:51:41 AM »
Lucky Lefty mentioned John Chacko in another (now infamous)thread and it got me to thinking.  Isn't this place known as the most walled up house in America?  John Chacko has 96 800's, almost all at his own house, if I recall correctly.  Anyone actually ever been there (it's in Wilkes-Barre, PA)?

A few years back our state tournament was held there.  Our local center took 6 or 7 teams of bowlers ranging from 180 up to 240 average.  At the time, it was exceptionally easy house to hit the pocket.  Seemingly anything on the right (or left) half of the lane was funneled back to the pocket.  I'm pretty sure that over the singles and doubles or team event (I forget which we bowled in that house), there maybe was one person who shot under a 600 set...  Oddly enough, I don't think anyone had a set over 750 though....  I remember being able to hit the pocket all day, but not being able to put any long strings together...  seemed like after three or four in a row, you could count on wrapping a corner pin or stoning an 8 or 9 pin.

Regardless, it is one of the highest scoring 300's/800's houses in the country...  I don't seem to remember any 900's being shot though... LOL

i live about a half hour away from chacko's and yes it is an unbelievable house.  the shot isnt walled out of belief but like stated before as long as your sonmewhat in the pocket 9 out of 10 shots it will be a strike.  i know a person who averaged 248 for a half, and wasnt even high average.

now the possibilities of a 900.. ehh i dont know. 870-880 i can believe, but 900 is just so unreachable, but theres always an opportunity for someone to do it.
