Are pearl urethane balls such as the Mix actually more durable than polyester balls?
The last couple of polyesters I've owned have both cracked in pretty much the same spot by one of my finger holes and I'm considering making the switch. I'm just not sure if balls like the Mix would prevent that from happening or if it's just hype.
From what I've seen from more typical urethanes such as the Pitch Black, Black Hammer, etc. have me convinced they're definitely more durable than polyester (or resin) but I don't have much to go off of for something like the Mix, Bullseye, or Artic Sniper. They're not very popular at all around here.
Any thoughts? Am I overthinking it?

After going through cracking on my polyester ball every 8-12 months I got fed up. I clip the edge of the thumbhole on my spare release, and the plastic balls would slowly crack around the edge. I'd plug and redrill the thumb 2-3 times before giving up on the ball, but that whole circle of misery got old.
I bought a Mix last year, and no cracking. I still hit the thumbhole, but there is no sign of any problems. It's been at least 300-400 games, and plastic would have shown some cracking by now.
Just as important, the reaction is almost the same. On real toast, the mix will move a board or two more than plastic, but it was easy to adjust. I can't see going back.

The Mix is definitely more durable. One great spare ball.

tzone won't crack with proper maintenance. It's bullet core enable hook if you have enough hand of odd lane conditions.

To be honest it doesn't appeal to me at all. :D I like green and that dark grey pearl color, but not in that combination.
Ended up ordering the new green and white Mix tonight. Can't wait to see it out there (hopefully) mowing down the ten pin. And (also hopefully) not cracking in the process.

The green mix looks like the earth family ob balls from ebonite and brunswick.
I think the red and silver or blue and orange look better. Do you already have the earth balls from ebonite and brunswick?

No. I like the brighter colors though so most of the other Mix balls didn't catch my eye. Was seriously contemplating the pink and white one though, that certainly would have been a change. ;D

I picked up a green and white Mix a few weeks ago and it's a very sharp-looking ball! I had to slightly adjust my targets but I'm all lined up now for spares versus my old plastic ball.

I kind of like the Kelly Green and white/silver mix.

Picked up my Mix tonight. It's actually a darker green than the color in the picture on the website and above. The writing seems closer to a bright green than yellow too, but it still looks nice regardless.
As far as picking up spares I can't believe what I've been missing all my life. For me it has such a nicer reaction going straight down the corners, none of that slight over/under plastic sometimes had. I've tried altering the surface a bit on plastic as well and it still always had that little bit of movement (or skid) that you have to worry about. None of that with the Mix. Just a very slight turn on the end that wouldn't every effect me as long as I hit my mark.
Very small sample size, but I'm liking it. A clean 732 my first night with it seems like a good omen. :D Would recommend to anybody looking for a spare ball.

FYI Mine looks almost exactly like the picture. Kind of flashy looking, but I really like that green. I think of it as a "Kelly" green, a description I saw of that color a long time ago.
