arsenal suggestion
« on: October 10, 2016, 11:54:44 AM »
I am looking for a ball when the lanes brake down, but that I can still play a down /in shot preferably around the 5 board. I am currently using a Rising Star for that now, and most of the time it does work, but it has quite a few games on it, and is close to retirement. I am looking for a ball that is strong, but that doesn't over react at the back end. I am not sure if the Wreck-it would be a good replacement, or maybe a Match?

A Hectic has roughly the same core (updated version) as the Rising Star, but one probably better suited for what you're looking for. I've heard both Match balls are stronger than advertised so I don't know if either of those would be good for up five on broken down lanes.

Of course all the newer, lower-end releases are starting to have stronger coverstocks than you think the would/should have. To me it's probably the hardest part of the bag to fill. Heavy to medium oil balls are pretty easy to find, but getting a weaker ball that actually reacts like a weaker ball (but doesn't hit like a wet bag) on dry lanes... good luck.

I have looked at the Hectic, but since it is a pearl, I am hesitant. I would rather have a hybrid or a solid.

Assuming you're talking about break down after throwing stronger equipment, I'd look at the Match Solid. I think the Wreck-It might be a little stronger cover-wise and have a quicker transition

How do you think those two compare to the Ride?

From what I've seen the SAY is stronger. More off the spot and earlier as well. Not sure about the PRO, but that's supposed to be the smoother ball so maybe it's closer.

Radical Rack Attack
I've used this on the burn and it allows me the ability to stay right of everyone and keep a good angle to the pocket.
