Bowled a tourney yesterday.......
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:17:48 AM »
and out of the 36 bowlers, 30 were throwing Storm/Roto. Guy next to me was killing it with a new Crux and a few others were rolling Cruxes as well. Saw plenty of IQs (all the Tour models) Hysteria, Mutant Cells, Virtuals (yep, 3 guys - not the Nano) Reigns, etc. You name it, it was more than likely Storm. I was throwing my Quantums, guy with me had one of the new Vintage LT 48s and 2 Hammer balls, another guy with me had a Hammer Raw Doom that he only used the first game then switched to all Storm balls, guy next to me had a Jackal and a few lanes down 2 guys were throwing DV8.

I have never matched up to Storm covers, but seeing so many bowlers use a Utah products yesterday was unreal.

I didn't make the finals but rolled well with my Imperial Quantum.

The #1 qualifier was the guy beside me with the Crux. He started 279-299-278. 2 Stone 9s and a stone 7 for the 299 (righty). Seriously should have had 899 (and yes, we moved lanes after every game).

Just an FYI, nothing more

Kinda like Nike athletic shoes, Storm is the 800 pound gorilla of the industry at this point.

I take it this was not a sport shot certified tournament :)

Uhhh...no. It was a scratch 5 game tourney that doubled as a fundraiser for Veterans. We have a large vet community in the area with a large Air Force base within 10 miles of the bowling center. House shot was put out to not scare away anyone.

Seeing a bowling alley full of Storm balls is common place. I personally don't have any Storm/Roto Grip in my arsenal but everyone I see has their stuff.

I used to roll Hammer's but over the years seemed I didn't like what they had to offer. I tried Global and my average steadily declined, picked up a used Hyroad and bought a new Crux and instantly scored better then I have in months. I still have a global ball I love for shooting spares. I haven't owned a storm ball in probably ten years.
The harder I try the harder they fall
