Your pro shop.  They are not generally available on the Internet.

Call 900G directly, their number is on their website.

I want to try a ball from visionary and 900 but if I have to get it from the proshop it might not happen, it justs cost too much. I know he needs to make his money but I can't afford his prices, but I would let him drill'em.

Consider contacting 900G directly.

How much money do you really save by buying online anyway? I mean...if your pro shop is charging you that much to begin with...and you have been forced to buy online as a result...the main question in my mind would be, "why are you still using that shop?" Granted, you may have a great relationship with him, or he might drill your equipment well. However, at some point, you are a customer...

The pro shop I deal with charges $45 to drill a ball purchased elsewhere.  If I purchase direct from him, The drilling is included in the purchase price.  I get a better deal buying from him directly.

But if you can buy it elsewhere and have it drilled at your pro-shop and save 10 bucks, that is 10 bucks in your pocket and not your pro-shop. I am all for supporting the local shops. But I feel that if it takes half an hour to map and drill a ball, then they can do 2 an hour. That means that they are making roughly 90 bucks an hour. So you are still supporting them.

For me, since you are a loyal customer, then you should get some sort of discount on drilling. I have known a few shops that have given me discounts even though I have brought a ball into them. But I also have purchased items from them.

If I'm that stingy with the 10 bucks I'll keep from the proshop, I'm not so sure a new bowling ball is a wise purchase.

Most of the time, you will get a better deal going through a proshop then online...after you add shipping and the cost of drilling. But every once in a while, there are deals online that make it worthwhile. FOr me 90% of the timeI go through my proshop. But even he understands at times I get a ball online( including shipping) cheaper then he can buy it, and he says go for it in those cases. But normally they are few and far between.

Plus the extra $10 you spend at the proshop, might be worth it in the knowledge you might be able to pick up from the guy as well. I have learned a lot about balls and drillings in talking with the owners of the proshops I've been too.

Then, add the ability of the pro shop operator to warranty a ball if need be.

Who is going to stand behind an internet ball on a warranty situation?

BOWL119 --

First off...your conception of a pro shop business is WAY off. I'm not even going to start on the "two balls an hour" thing, but let's go with that anyways:

He charges $45.00 for both balls. According to you, he just made $90.00. However, if you had the slightest amount of business sense, you would understand that the $90.00 doesn't just waltz into his wallet. He had to pay for the drilling equipment. He had to pay for the drill bits, for them to be sharpened. He had to pay for the spinner, for the polishes, for the abralon pads, for grips, for the glue, for sandpaper, for everything in the damn store. He has a cost of operation, and, more than likely, a rent/mortgage to pay, not to mention other associated costs. That $90.00 is NOT his hourly salary.

Like others said, the $10.00 is ridiculous. Know that your ball is drilled properly, know that it is backed up by a shop, know your pro shop guy, know about the damn ball and the drilling and the surface, and know that you can develop a relationship with your driller. Sheesh! What were you planning on buying with that $10.00???? Is that not worth it? Is the crappy hot dog and small soda at the snack bar more up your alley?

Buying a ball online, at a price terribly similar to that offered at your local shop, is not worth it, under any circumstance, unless you have, for whatever bizarre reason, found an online shop that drills balls the way you like.

Of course, if you can buy a new MoRich ball for $30.00 shipped, that's another story, and I'm sure any pro shop owner with half a brain would understand. Also, staffers who don't drill bringing their new balls in (direct from the company), that's fine as well.

Nope!  The pro shop will complain that the internet is killing his business!  How can he compete with distributors with an on-line store that is able to sell balls for $30?

If they can sell a ball for $30, they must really be raping people on the other balls!

^^^  Not my logic, but we've all seen the arguments about this and you know it doesn't end up much different from what I just said.

I buy my high end equipment through a friend that owns a bowling center but doesn't have a pro-shop....so I get my equipment at cost and take it to my pro-shop guy and he understands. Like on LaneMasters I pay $130 for the ball and I pay $50 for drill and grips so I'm out the door at $180 for a ball that is on the shelf for $229 then you add grips and taxes I'm looking at $260+ for the same ball. Mid-Line/Entry level equipment I buy direct through the pro-shop because there is little to no savings it for me.
