Lateral thumb pitches, I'm a little confused...
« on: October 26, 2005, 01:16:04 PM »
OK, I always had believed that pitching the thumb away from the palm made turning the ball easier.  However, after reading Bill Taylor's book, he seems to suggest the opposite of under the palm.

I switched to bowling left-handed now, and am looking to turn the ball a little more.  (Right handed was never a problem turning the ball.)

Current thumb pitch is 1/16 reverse and 0 lateral.

Any thoughts?

Find a knowledgeable pro shop operator who can "read" your hand and give you the lateral pitch your thumb hinge calls for.  --  JohnP
