Is the plastic Hammer Taboo the best Plastic ball with a core? If not what's the best?

I don't know if there is a "BEST" but the Track Spare+ has a core in it. Not a bad looking ball either.

The Hammer True Blood is actually newer than the Taboo, but even it was recently discontinued.
There is no best right now; the 2 Hammers and the Track all have VERY strong cores on the weakest of coverstock. What's probably most important is that the driller drill the ball correctly for your release, in order for you to get the most from the ball. And you need a bucket full of "DRY" or a lot of hand to get such weak balls to hit well.

I have a Hammer True Blood and absolutely love it. Rolls like a plastic but hits very hard. I can keep it pretty straight going for the ten pin, but when the lanes are fried, it will hook a little but carries very well compared to a spare ball that I used to use without a big core.

I wonder if they're more the same than they are different. I've been using a red XXXL for years for spares as well as for shorter patterns with great success. I just picked up a True Blood and it rolls pretty similar. XXXL is symmetric and the True Blood is asymmetric. One is for right handed and the other for left, so I can't make a direct comparison. I have a good friend with a Taboo Spare. His is harder off the spot, but his rev rate is also quite a bit higher than mine.

True Blood is good for it's intended use and you can catch a bunch of them on sale. EBI has a habit of releasing plastic balls with cores so I assume another one will be out in the future.

Looks like they still may be making these. My pro shop just got a shipment in, and just in time for their last week of their "Brand of the Day" sale they've been having all month.
One of the specials they've had is $15 off every plastic ball, regardless of manufacturer, every Tuesday of this month. Both the Taboo Spare and True Blood qualified for this, even though most weren't thinking about plastic balls with cores. I pulled the trigger on the True Blood and got it punched up for the same price as purchasing it NIB and undrilled.

If I had the chance to snatch another Taboo Spare I'd do so in a heart beat. The Taboo Spare and Big Blue Spare are 2 of my favorite spare balls with cores in them.

Check on Ebay for the Plastic Wolf from Ebonite. It has the old Wolf core, and is clear plastic. It works great for spares, can be used to pick non-traditional plastic ball spares like double-wood spares, and can be used when the lanes get toasty. I have had 4-5 279 games with it and it is on my bucket list to shoot 300 with it before I quit bowling. Only issue is they may be hard to find, Ebonite stopped making these years ago, but it is the best spare ball I have ever thrown.
