Lifting through the ball

I've been trying to lift through the ball because I've been coming around the ball too much, causing the ball to spin. But when I lift through the ball, it's like a plastic ball, going straight. Am I not literally supposed to lift straight up? should the ball be leaning towards the left a little bit?

Aaron, you might still top the ball, even if it feels different than before.
It can also be the result of a general release or even timing flaw. Do you know your PAP or style (high/low tracker)?

However, make sure you get the thumb out of the ball in your ankle area, do not wait longer to release the ball. As an additional tip, I can only tell you to try to "drive" through the ball with your ring finger, as if you were grabbing out towards your target on the lane. You might accellerate the swing a little once the thumb is free. Side roll and hook should come by itself - do not force the issue. The ball is designed to hook through its core and drilling, and it will gladly do if you let it do its job. That's why you paid so much money fo it!

When I used to come through the ball, my track would be low, maybe 3 inches from the holes! Then when I started lifting through the ball, it's getting back to the way it used to be. Closer to thumb, farther from finger holes. Thanks for your help!
