Injury
« on: January 17, 2006, 05:33:46 PM »
I chipped a bone in my foot early Saturday morning.  X-rays, on tuesday morning, revealed a chip in the bone that connects to my big toe on my right foot.  The toe is very swollen and it is pretty painful.  I have to wear a very stylish hardsoled shoe until next Thursday.  More xrays to come, then a decision about what to do next.  Hopefully, everything will clear up before a tourney I was supposed to bowl on the 29th.

Andrew,

Sorry to hear about the fractured toe.  If the fracture is a hair line figure 4-6 weeks longer if it has completely separated.  Don't screw around with the healing of this.  If it doesn't heal right you will be plague for the the rest of your life.

Sorry to hear that.  Take the doc's advice.

Next time though do your counseling with a pencil instead of your foot.

They aren't 100% sure it isn't an old injury.  That is why I have to go back next thursday.  My toe/foot is feeling much better today, hopefully the news will be good.

Andrew,

Just don't be macho stubborn! Take good advice when it's offered.

Speakin of injuries I hurt my right index finger at work yesterday and I have to wear a splint for two weeks.  I went and practiced today to see if I could still bowl since its an important week for my saturday night team and I had no problem throwing the ball but my question is. Is it illegal for me to bowl with that splint on?  I dont know a whole lot about some rules and I dont want to show up on Saturday Night and start bowling and then find out Im breaking a rule.

Andy,

I am out of commish and dying to come back, too... but I am sorry to hear about your injury.

When you are healed, and if you are going through physical therapy... GO THROUG HIT AND WORK 200% HARDER than they think you will work so we can you see back on the lanes soon!

Yikes, take it easy man.  Hope they'll have some good news for you.  If they don't, lock the bowling balls in a closet so you aren't tempted, to prevent further injury.

No, I did lifting weights.  I was using a machine and didn't have the guards in place, my foot slipped, smashing my left foot and bending the right big toe backwards.  I learned a valuable lesson, if you must hurt your feet, don't hurt them both at the same time.  Thats good advice right there....
