Title: Polished solid vs pearl
Post by: Storm269 on April 17, 2008, 09:58:48 AM
I was wondering if I have a dull solid ball and polished it, will I get almost the same kind of reaction as a pearlized version of the same ball ? With every other things the same.

A polished solid reactive is still a solid reactive.  No matter how much polish you put on it, it will still be stronger and smoother than a pearl with the same polish.

The reaction will definitley be different, but you can't shine a Cell to work on dry.

Pearls are called such because they have a different additive in the cover that will skid more in oil, and react more on friction.

The opposite though will give different results: dulling a pearl.  I like to take most of my pearls to 4000 or 2000.  Gets similar length to polished and smoothes out the flip on the back.

But the best thing to do with ball surfaces is to adjust them and see what it does.
