I need a dry lane ball
« on: August 31, 2007, 10:04:01 AM »
Looking to get a new ball for my second shift league.
I'm torn between the Tropical and the Venus but also considering the Bash or Jazz.
Any suggestions?

I second the suggestion for the L/M Hornet, if it really is a dry condition.  For a light broken-down condition, the next step up, the Buzz.

Depending on the money, you could get a POWER GROOVE DRY/R. My son bought one and it works well on dry or broken down conditions.

Cherry Vibe hands down is the best dry lane ball i have thrown.. If the lanes are super burnt I use a Slate Blue Gargoyle but if its just 2nd shift i would go with a chery vibe

Roto Grip Neptune is reaaaaalllly long.  Little more break point than the Venus, but longer and less overall hook.

Just because they make it in your size, doesn't mean you should wear it!!!

I think the Neptune would be a really good choice also.

Now thats FUNNY... someone just said a Black Widow is good on dry lanes... Whats this guy smoking anyway?? Bash maybe the best dry lane ball of the 4 mentioned, hockeynut. Although havnt seen the Jazz in action. The tropical however will overeact when hitting the dry sometimes while the Venus just simply hooks more than the specs give it credit. While all balls will work I would suggest the bash!

I have to second the recommendation for a Cherry Vibe. This ball goes long and has a very strong controllable hook. I have never had a ball that got down a pair of burnt lanes as clean as this one does. And when it gets to the pins it still has a ton of energy. Highly recommended.

In no way is the Black Widow a dry lane ball.....I dont care how much it is stacked. Anyway, the Black Lane#1 XXXL is a great dry lane ball. It doubles as a spare ball as well....Plastic cover stock, no need to worry about hooking with this ball.
