Pro Shop reccomendations..
« on: October 23, 2013, 09:56:59 AM »
Simply put, Im looking for a reputable pro shop/driller near or in Sacramento thats professional and who fits hands really well. Im not looking to get a new ball, as im happy with my arsenal, just looking to get my span which is too long, corrected. Thanks in advance.

Rayray...When you post something like this...You make it sound like most pro shops are run by idiots...And you are looking for someone special "who fits
hands really well"    to plug some balls...

IMO...Most pro shops do their best to fit their customers  " hands really well"...

Stockton has two excellent pro shops. Pacific Ave Bowl and at West Lane Bowl both have very good pro shops and staff.

Before Gary & Leanne Hulsenberg moved to Utah, I would have suggested the Fireside Lanes pro shop. I'm not sure how good the pro shop is now, although I think Caleb Nakata was doing most of the drilling even when Gary was there.

Uhh sorry? I didnt intend to make all pro shops sound like idiots or any for that matter. Oh and thanks for the great help and insight though, I guess instead of asking other bowlers about pro shop recommendations I should pick a random one, or even buy online.

Doing your best to fit someone's hand may not get the job done, and I don't think he meant it as an insult . . but actually the bad shops outnumber the good ones by quite a bit.  A lot are run by good ol boys who haven't changed in 20 years or kept up with things, OR by younger guys who have been taught that way BY the good ol boys.  We actually make quite a bit fixing other shops mistakes.

What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I wouldn't want someone to do their best. I would want someone trained and experienced doing their best. Me doing my best to be a paramedic isn't going to do anyone a whole lot of good. I would want a paramedic to be their best.

I sent you a PM about Pro Shop. Let me know if you got it.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Leon at Leon's 300 club at AMF Rocklin lanes will hook you up.

First, somebody needs to explain what a "good" fit is.    Relaxed, stretched, thumb in first, or last, finger and thumb pitches, span measurements.  Never had it explained to me what a "good" fit is.  Mostly, it's what you intend to do with it.

Ray...Lets say you bowl in a 32 lane center...And your league has 160 bowlers...More than likely those 160 league bowlers have their own ball...And more than likely they are probably drill in at least 20-30 different pro shops...

The point...What one person thinks about a pro shop will be different than what someone else does...IMO, the best word of mouth comes from watching bowlers you
know...and see how they are performing...

Now yes it is true that there are a lot of hot dogs in the pro shop business...IMO, asking for advise is a tricky thing...That's why I would tend to trust people you
know...Especially if they are bowling well...

Caleb, at Fireside Lanes, does a great job. He drilled 2 new balls for me and the fit is perfect.  The only other pro shop that I would go to is Leon's.
If you didn't like that strike, watch this one!
