How do you get rid of lane shine on a ball? Also does it work like a polish in a way or no effect on the roll of the ball?

If the ball is dull and gets shined by use on oil, it is also called an "oil shine". Any "good" bowling ball cleaner will be able to get rid of it and return the ball to its original look and appearance and finish.

Not to hijack the thread, but if you had oil shine, wouldn't that mean that you now have alot of oil in the ball?

Possibly, but not necessarily. I've had oil shine and once cleaned the ball acted just fine and hit with authority.

Some balls need to be treated for oil soaking and do not get an oil shine.

The reason I ask is because my Gamebreaker has oil shine, but no oil in it. I give it a hot water bath and no oil comes out at all.

I have used Legends cleaner, Clean & Dull or Clean & Tacky to get rid of oil shine, easily, with no problems. I suppose a good household degreaser like Simple Green SHOULD also get rid of it. theball should then be cleaned with something else to get rid of any residue left by non-bowling specific cleaners.

I still think that if your ball cleaner can't get rid of the oil shine, it is not a good ball cleaner.
