The girls started at 8AM today, but Iím not bowling so I sleeped in and got breakfast for a 10:30 arrival time. They were on game 5 when I showed up and on the high side of the house.

It was pretty much the same play as Friday night with little change in strategy. I can see where the 12 cut was so critical that many became cautious and conservative with play. I was surprised that the girls stuck to their plan without change and just executed. The dominate plans succeeded and made the 12 cut. Last year Clara did great on the 42 but the 46 left her lots of 10 pins today. I felt bad for her because of all the bad breaks, but they where not splits, and she really needed carry to make the cut. But thatís bowling. Classic case of risk vs reward, but maybe 15 cashes well. They blocked off the high scoring pairs for the TV show which would of made a difference.

So LJ and, oh the Russian tied for 12th and a one game roll off was due to break the tie. The pair was stripped and oiled, 10 mins of practice and the match starts. You can watch it on Extra Frames. LJ with her old school simple plan vs a younger player that really wanted to win and join Poppler in the 12 cut . Who was going to break and make a mistake first? Who had the stronger plan? The Russian had the right idea, but moved to far left and got really soft and left 2 splits. LJ knew it was fresh and stripped and used the reverse oil to her advantage and won by like 4 pins. Didnít leave any splits and just had to deal with primitive spares. Remember the reverse oil was 25 feet between 3rd arrow. You can watch it again if you have extra frames to see what I mean. Watch for the Russian for sheís really good, and Poppler they made the cut.

The 12 cut started but the crowd swelled huge so I went back to the pro shop and watched golf. Then I left. They had the Pro Am which I keep forgetting about but thatís not my venue. Maybe next year. But they serve killer tri tip by Chris and pumped up chicken barbque as part of the deal.

So this is just story, content to read. One opinion on strategy.

Accolades to Creamer; Brunswick staff and entry level. She didnít do well Friday night and left the parking lot really bummed, But give her some time. Accolades to the Indonesian girl! And accolades to Andrea, Macy and Walton, our local girls!
Taking the winter season off. But still subbing for friends and the sport shot league.

PWBA = Professional Women's Bowling Association - Official Website

This is not a junior tour so they are women not girls. Appreciate your write ups and enthusiasm for the game but in my experience young women don't like being called girls.

For the Russian, I'm goign to assume you mean Maria Bulanova. If so, she's damned good. She made the 2014 QubicaAMF World Cup at 15 years old, and is currently on Vanderbilt's collegiate team. She's coming along, but she is going to be phenomenal in the next couple of years.
