Question
« on: July 17, 2009, 09:40:00 AM »
I've been noticing over the past 6 months or so that I am really not clearing my thumb quickly enough and it is causing me to kinda top the ball a bit and spin it a bit instead of roll it.  I'm trying to fix this myself if I can.

Does anyone on here know any good drills that I can do that will help me to learn to clear my thumb a little fast and not top the ball so much?

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks Guys.

I'd suspect something has changed about your thumb or the way you put your thumb in the hole or your release. If you cleared it before, something has changed and either you're doing something different or your thumb no longer fits the hole size, shape or pitch.

Maybe you're knuckling it to hold onto the ball. That's a sign that the hole and your thumb no longer match.

Also it's possible, you just need more or less tape to fit the hole to your thumb. Changing seasons (temperature or humidity) or changing body weight can also be responsible.
