Question about newbies...
« on: December 25, 2007, 11:50:10 AM »
My gf just got a new ball for Xmas, a storm jolt prl, She uses a plastic ball drill conv right now.

I gave her a finger tip ball to try before off the house rack and she had pretty good turn and decent track to my suprize, so the question is drill the jolt conv, or finger tip, and why ?

If she did OK with the fingertip ball from the house rack, there's no reason not to do drill the new one fingertip.  If she's going to hook the ball (and it is a hooking ball) and there's no other compelling reason not to go fingertip (older, weaker, arthritis), I'd go with fingertip.

Well finger tip will help with revolutions on the ball, which with a girl it may not be necessary because the speed on the ball may be slow. It all depends on the bowler but conventional is less strain on the wrist and joints as to where the finger tip can wear down your fingers and wrist.

Seen a guy on tour throwing the ball conventional grip and he did pretty well with it so really its just a preference but most people can put more revs in a ball with finger tip grip.

I am under the assumption most people are getting away from the pure finger tip drillings.  Possibly only in my area, but lots and lots of stress on the fingers and all that jazz.

Personally I like an inbetween, which to my knowledge is known as a semi finger tip.  Might want to look into that.
