What's your favorite med-heavy oil ball right now?

So our center made a change and is putting out more oil than they've ever had for the house shot in the 4 seasons I've bowled. I planned on throwing my Rack Attack Pearl and Tag Cannon a lot, but now the Rack Attack stays home and there's a little too much volume for the Tag.

Busted out my tournament balls in the Absolute Nirvana and Freakshow Solid, but both of those are a little too smooth.

What do you guys like that's a little quicker response down lane but in the stronger category? I have some ideas just curious on your thoughts

Inception Pearl and Honey Badger are on my list, both have been impressive looking
I would have said HB, but it's not a heavy oil ball. If there's friction, the inception gives you a bigger change of direction. And that's saying something because HB is stupid strong off the spot.

My DDTrick and No Rules Pearl do wonders on Med-Heavy. Just depends on if it's flat, long, THS, etc But those are my two go toos.

You are correct, I had a guy try to trade me one recently, but I was looking more to sell than trade. That core works well for me.

Thanks for the input guys. I have a short list that I've been looking at just haven't decided yet. I expected a lot of Code Red and No Rules Pearl comments with how popular they are and how well they work but I'm just not interested in those because i see them everywhere. I'd be interested in the Intense but don't think i can wait until the end of october with some upcoming tournaments and league being the way it is right now.

Inception Pearl, Honey Badger, Real One, Guru Limited, Trident Quest are the main ones I'm looking at with a couple others getting some recognition.


Just thought I'd make this thread to get some more activity going

Among current releases, I would choose the Show Off. Pretty angular on the backend, as long as there's enough volume up front to get it downlane.

Pro shop operator used his Real One on 44' THS and he had great recovery and he is  speed dominant. Ball looked really good. Nice color blend also, not loud but clean and sharp.

The DV8 Pitbull Growl and Creed have been my favorite. The Growl gives me a little more length than my original Pitbull with a bigger move down lane. The Creed has been amazing. More length and a big move down lane. We had a demo and these two were the hottest balls of them all, along with the the Inferno.

We all have varying ideas on what medium-heavy oil is, because we can only bowl on what the house puts down for us.  We put down a fairly heavy volume of Kegel Ice at two places I've been bowling at.  Currently, my best choice has been the Forest Green Quantum.  On medium the True Nirvana with gloss knocked off covers lots of area.  Good luck to you.

I know everyone has varying ideas on it which is why I expanded on it in my original post. I've debated about the Creed and True Nirvana some since i like my Absolute Nirvana so much.

Hope you're doing well up north Lane. I'm hoping to bowl the Storm Utah Open maybe I'll see you there

Thanks.  I'm a glutton for punishment so I usually bowl that one.  It's always something VERY difficult.  Let me know when you bowl.  It would be good to meet in person.

Probably contrary to you, it's the only one I've drilled. If the rest of the line rolls as nice, then I've missed out.  I've tried the united in a demo, I like the gold better. But then again it's more what I was looking for....strong symmetric pearl. The united to me is a little more medium.  If you know what I mean.

Total layup here, but Marvel Pearl.  It feels like cheating.  I got destroyed by a Black Widow Gold last night though . . but it has a spider on it, so that's kind of cheating too.

I ended up going with the DV8 Creed and have to say im glad i did. 248-279 out of the box with a shot at 800 until something hit my carry going stone 8, wrap 10, 4-9, wrap 10 in game 3.

Plenty of backend but very predictable. Missed out on a couple and it didnt jerk off the dry

Nice. The Creed is also a really nice looking ball so it's a win-win.

On another note I think that's the area DV8 targets most with their lineup. Lots of higher differential, lower RG balls with some degree of asymmetry. They're probably the manufacturer I look towards first for a ball in the medium-heavy range.
