I love mine. I had the ABS Tour Ultras for 3 years prior to these and liked them OK but these are much better in my opinion. They have a wider base so it makes me more stable at the line which results in more confidence that I will post the shots. Also the slide soles are more consistent for me than the Tour Ultras. Those seemed like they would either slide too much or feel like they were sticking. I could never get a very comfortable slide. No problem with the SST 8's. They are awesome. I know a lot of people are sold on the Tour Ultras but after having both, I prefer the SST 8's and would highly recommend them.

the SST8's are well worth the $$$$  I got mine online for like 140$  i believe, and of course it came with the heals and slide soles too, plus i have my old heals and slide soles from my sst6's so no biggie.

I did get the wide width, so yea i do get a bit more stable pivot at the line with them, its not HUGE, but its notice-able.

I had both shoes in my hands at the same time, I don't know where anyone gets that the ultras are not as wide as the 8's. I put them sole to sole and they are like the same shoe.

Comfort level of the ultras is off the sheet compared to the 8's.
I bought a used pr to try and loved them.

I am ambidextrous so I bought a NIB pr off ebay for the lefty alter ego, for less than $80 SHIPPED. (dynothane) not the 3G. Same shoe just different names.
I will be purchasing within the next 3 weeks a NIB pr of the same shoe I bought lefty for my righty alter ego.

I have 12 games on it. Compared to my Brunswick i get a tighter feeling ( it feels good). A traction heel a tat lower than the h2 would be nice but its not really a problem.

it depends what shoes you have now and how comfortable with them..like above stated..by buzzhead I also own all the sst's from 6 up and the tour ultras( which I bought from griz fan..lol) I prefer any of them over the 6's but after that I feel comfortable in the ultras or the sst7's or 8's.. some say the 8's are a lil more comfortable but  both my 7's feel fine to me but the ultras fit like a glove..but I still like my 7's and 7se's better than the 8's and ultras..

Have had these since they first came out and they are really worth the money. They do take some time to break in the soles. Took me around 6 games to break them in. They are not as comphy as my sst 6 LX (had the kangaroo leather) but that is expected. They still are comphy enough. The toe guards are of leather so should hold up really well.

Going to play devils advocate here and say they look cheap as hell compared to the Dynorooz (or whoever is making them these days) made with hand-tooled leather.

I don't have these but a guy on one of my teams do and after 2 weeks the one sole kept falling off, non-slide sole. He eventually glued it in place. So I went with the SST7's and couldn't be happier.....

Some bowlers who plant hard may need to move the slide sole back about 1/4". This will help if they have a problem with their slide sole not sticking.  <<  according to Dexter.

Have not heard any problems about the non slide sole not sticking.
