how long should it take to bowl league. just wondering for a 5 member and 4 member mixed league. the mix league that i bowl takes about 2 and half hours, the 5 man takes almost about 2hr 45 minutes to 3 hrs. is this about the normal nowadays.

Haven't seen a 5 man team in a LONG while .. mixed and senior 4 man teams average about 2 and a half hours. Rarely do they go 3 hours and don't think we ever did it in 2 hours ..

I bowl a 5-man team league and it takes about 3 hours to bowl, maybe a little less.
-
Those times sound about right for a 4-man (2.5 hrs) and 5-man (3 hrs) league.

thanks for the answers. the owner of the house said that 4 member should only take 2 hrs.

He's wrong.

I bowl on 3 - 5 man teams all 3 take approx. 3 hours sometimes a little more or less -- depends on how many strikes are being thrown. There is no way a 4 man team takes 2 hours -- I would say 2.5

I'm on a 5 man team and it takes around 3 hrs. I've also bowled on a 4 man team before and we never finished in 2 hrs. 2-1/2 is more like it.

Our league has 5 man teams and we are usually done in about 2hrs. and 50 minutes.

I believe a 5 person team should be able to get done in around 2:30 to 2:45.
4 person teams should be around 2:15.
I've always found it funny that 30 years ago with many fewer strikes thrown and manual scoring most 5 person teams got done in 2:30. We had another shift coming in and had to get off the lanes.
Today too many are watching TV, talking, wandering in the bar, taking a smoke, etc and not paying attention to when they are up.
Plus in some cases the automatic scorers slow you down some.
I bowl in a 3 person league bowling 4 games and we seldom take 2:15.
My 5 person league generally takes around 2:45 and some of that is due to some bowlers thinking they need 2 and 3 lane courtesy.

Sounds about right. I bowl in a mixed 4 person handicap and we're usually done in 2.5 hours.
I also bowl in two 4 person scratch leagues and the avg. time to bowl there is probably 2:15. I can only think of 2-3 times in the last couple years where we've been done in 2 hours. In both cases both teams were scoring huge(lots of strikes) and there were no interruptions to the bowling(ball calls, waiting for someone, etc.). I don't see how a proprietor can realistically say 2 hours.

My Thursday night 5 man classic scratch league runs around 2 1/2 hours.
I also bowl a handicap league on Wednesday nights, and it runs about 2 1/2 hours as well. LOL

For my league, 4 person mixed, it takes between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours, depending who we are playing against. Our team starts immediately after any announcements, but other teams will stand in line to pay for pots, take a smoke outside, order food, talk story...before even throwing their first ball. Sometimes my entire team will bowl their frame and the opposing teams first bowler didn't even go yet. I hate this and hate twiddling thumbs waiting. When it's time to bowl, bowl!!!

Just to chime in, but we have two centers in town. The AMF house take 3+ hours for a 5 man team. A similar talent level league at the other Brunswick center takes 2.5 hours. We start at 6:30, get out around 9:00. (practice adds 10 minutes) So I think a 4 man team could take 80% of that or 2 hours. It's definitely possible.
