To me, power in bowling means:
What is the optimum speed/rev-rate/side rotation/axis tilt required to achieve the optimum entry angle? Whatever the answer is on the lane condition your competing on dictates the most effective power.
All the revs in the world might look powerful and impressive, but are they consistently effective?
Well, the most definitive answer can be arrived at by looking at the most successful bowlers in PBA history – Earl Anthony, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Parker Bohn III, Mark Roth, Pete Weber, Dick Weber, Norm Duke, Brian Voss, Marshall Holman… Mostly strokers, power strokers, and tweeners; Mark Roth is about the only cranker in that elite group. I think that best defines power – effective power. Any extra effort is unnecessary and wasted.
