Just wondered if anyone was aware in the Yea or Nay if USBC / Local Associations were going to rerate bowlers based on Blue patterns by X percent, White by X percent and Red will not as they are house patterns.
Thanks - Nod

No word yet that I have seen but I would assume they will need to address this issue. We shall see.

There is actually no rerate for Sport averages,so why would they do RW&B. The ABC went to all the trouble to do the average chart for sport to league averages. Then when I did rerate based on that chart was told the rules prohibit rerating based on the average being from a Sport league. Now I remember when this all started that was why averages would be noted if the league was a sport league. I guess bowlers would not take a chance and the concept was dying,so they changed the rules.

I thought a tournament director could rerate anyone they thought necessary. Who told you that you couldn't rerate a bowler with a Sport average? Local USBC representative? Was it because they had another "regular" THS average and you were told to use that instead? How would they (whomever said you couldn't rerate) even find out that you wanted to? Like you, I thought the point of the Sport average chart was that someone couldn't establish a low Sport average, then get more sticks in a handicap tournament.

That reply came from the USBC direct. I actually did rerate and they threw a fit. They went to their local association and I was emailed the rules. Sure enough they had a rule to back their claim. We met in the middle. Why would you do an average chart and not enforce the rerate. I was a director of the local BA for many years and ran one of the experimental Sport leagues many years ago. I had always been led to believe this average chart would be available and used.

You need to look at rule 202, in the USBC rulebook. It covers sport league, average adjustments.
