I always never understood whats the point of the flare. i mean i kno it means flare as in the oil lines on your ball but whats the point or i mean definition. does it mean if you have more flare lines does the ball hook more or something. when your ball only has 1 flare line does it mean its weak. is more flare better or less flare better. Just wondering.

Flare means that the ball is rolling on a clean surface each revolution of the ball (assuming the ball is cleaned after each shot). So more flare or wider oil rings, can help on oily lanes to allow the ball to hook. On drier lanes, a ball with less flare potential would be a better match.

ohh i liked your first reply that made a short summary and makes good sense to me haha. more oil rings better ball for heavy oil. less oil rings better for dry.
