The Tactix color is awesome. But the Resurgence...

The resurgence was a great ball.

Is Columbia done making new balls? All they have done is rehash stuff lately.

You think there's a difference?

How many of these plus the other ebi releases to follow are "must have in your bag" releases?  Will four 3 ball totes be enough…

Yes, the Resurgence WAS a great ball. The Resurgence core is one of the nicest rolling cores ever produced. It's been used in a few other Columbia balls with great success, most recent being the Eruption Pro Blue. That ball was so good that I have two NIB in storage. Regardless, at some point I will get this remake.

I agree that many remakes are a big yawn. But not the Resurgence.

Well, coming up with a new name and color makes it seem like effort is being put forth. Literally taking balls from 10 years ago and coming back out with them just seems lazy. Especially when it is for multiple releases (Messenger, Beast, Chaos, Resurgence) and not just a yearly one off "retro" release.

Maybe, but the reality is that core/cover improvements have largely run their course, regardless of manufacturer. I buy a lot of stuff across brands, and I can't remember the last time I bought something truly new and exciting.

Let them come out with any remakes they want. Do your homework and pick up the ones that were gems. The Resurgence is certainly one.

I can't throw EBI, but thanks for the advice.

I detect some sarcasm them, but so be it.  ;)

Glad you're getting some benefit for being (I assume) a Motiv staffer. I'm also assuming that if the Venom Shock disappeared from the Motiv line-up and reappeared later as a "remake", you wouldn't voice any complaints. Think of other remakes in that light.

Steven,

A once a year remake is one thing, as mentioned. A remake every release is another.

P.S- I have reasons for not throwing EBI that I cannot discuss on this board.

I agree that too many remakes are overkill. But like anything else, if the educated bowling consumer (maybe close to extinction?) does his/her homework, the turds will be avoided and send a clear message back to the manufacturers. Lack of demand is the only thing that will resonate.

Whatever reasons you have for not throwing EBI are your own and I respect that. Along those same lines, I have reasons for not throwing Motiv any longer that I will also keep to myself.

As far as EBI, I will say they seem to make much more of an effort to promote their products via Demo Days (at least in SoCal) than I see with the other brands. Personally, that scores some points in buying decisions.

A little surprised the Web Pearl didn't get announced with those other ones... It's also a looker

Here’s some insider information:

Choice Solid - this is a really BIG ball.  It’s just as early as the original Choice, but the original Choice seems to be a little more responsive. Some of it was the white pigment in my opinion but I felt like that ball used its energy very quickly. I think the Choice Solid gives a similar amount of overall hook without expending all the energy in one spot.

Tactix Hybrid - this one was one of the kids favorites at junior gold. Ball color is fantastic and the yellow engraving pops off this ball. This ball is Track ball motion to a T. The I-core in the Paradox line gets end over end as fast as any core we have and the Kinetic series does too (for a weaker core). The Tactix Hybrid fits right in between a Paradox V and Kinetic Amethyst in my opinion. The shell on the Tactix hybrid gets it through the body of the lane significantly easier than the blue solid does and gives you a good back end motion without going totally bonkers off the spot.

Statement Hybrid - Great name plate/great color in the hottest brand on the market. From what I’ve seen, this ball will fit perfectly between the pearl and solid. Both of these balls rolled great. For me, I see the length through the first 20ft of the pearl with the mid-lane predictability of the solid. I think this will be a piece I can keep my hand behind and stay to the right or get my hand around and move left. I would drill the hybrid the same way you drilled the pearl if you liked it (pin up or down) but move the pin just a little closer to your PAP, maybe .5”

Resurgence - it’s back! The ball that got the Columbia 300 brand going again in 2007. Same color, same core, new cover for today’s oils. I don’t care how you drill this one. Pin up, pin down, 2” from PAP, this ball is going to roll great. This is the Columbia 300 benchmark piece that you guys have been waiting for. It has a lower RG (2.46) than the GB’s and the Webs, so you can expect this one to be a little earlier on the lane than those two series with probably a similar amount of overall hook.

In my opinion the new tactix and resurgence are the breadwinners of these releases, but don’t sleep on the choice solid or the new statement either.  Ebonite has been putting out some really really good pieces the last few years so give them a try..  You won’t be disappointed! Also, be on the lookout for some more releases in the coming months!  #TeamEBI

I have to admit I'm a little confused with some of the talk I've heard on the Resurgence. C300 has it placed in their mid level with the Reflex Hybrid cover that was also used on the Impulse.

Email today from Adam Ishman said "Resurgence will fit between the Sauce and Statement Solid, earlier than the Sauce but less overall than the Statement Solid". I've also heard this from at least 1 other staffer

Sounds right from I heard and seen. Check out JR Raymond review of the Resurgence.
Throws the ball on carry down after a league, pretty impressed.

That Resurgence looks like the replacement for my Wicked Encounter-which I love!

Sweet, sweet motion!!
