Title: Retiring my 30+ year old spareball

I'm finally doing it.  I ordered a new Brunswick Viz-a-ball Spiral.  I thought I would never buy a Viz-a-ball but this one is wild!  Something that unusual.  The Green LT48 goes in reserve.

Yeah that spiral is pretty sweet, I would pick one up but I think I'll just be getting a circle rio instead, o well, it'll get the job done.

Have you looked into the toughness of the ball you ordered? I don't know what the lifespan of a Vis-a-ball is at higher weights but they get damaged at lower weight's and are hard to get warranty replacements on, if you don't mind, in my opinion, the best ball for nailing 10 pins is the Arrow by Legends, it is currently the hardest Plastic ball on the market!

if you want to spend so much money on that ball, power to you.

it may be the hardest hitting ball, but Columbia white and blue dots are way cheaper and can get the job done.

+ i have seen someone hook that arrow.

i have never seen anyone hook a white dot.

I just did the same thing, retired my Yellow Dot that was 24 years old.  I decided on the Roto Grip Spare Tire, nice ball after considering several others.  It does the job....

I have a white dot and a clear wolf along with the LT48.  I thought the Spiral was just cool looking.  I really don't care about the damage as long as it works.  It's a bowling ball and the paint will get scratched.  When I was at Nationals they gave me a hard time about the LT48.  The label is almost gone off it.  I will treat the Spiral under the same philosophy as my other balls.  If it doesn't earn it's money back in a reasonable time then I may go back to the LT or get another spare ball.

I'm using a caramel White Dot, circa 1971, polished to 2000 grit.  It works fine.  I can remember when you couldn't buy a stronger ball, it was my primary ball for several years.  --  JohnP
