Return from Hoinke
« on: June 08, 2003, 11:29:43 AM »
I expected to see something from Card 79, Nicanor, or Rick Wunder.  Since they have not posted yet, I'll begin.  What an experience!  10 games across 20 lanes.

We had a great team Sr Kegler, Card 79, Nicanor, Rick Wunder, and myself, the token female and lefty.  I must say it was great being a lefty at this tournament.  There was a great shot down 10 and in.  There was also a very real out-of-bounds.  Hit outside of 10 and watch the ball roll straight as an arrow.

Sr Kegler learned his lesson in NC and refrained from those whiney lefty comments...thanks.   Strikingmachine was almost going to be renamed strikelessmachine or sparemachine, but he finally found the strikes.

What a great weekend and well worth the cost of airfare and hotel!  Great people, both from the West Virginia group and BallReviews.

Sr Kegler and Mrs Kegler, thank you for the ride from Indy to Cinci.   What a great couple.

I'll let the others fill you in on additional info.  Sorry if this makes no sense, but I'm really, really tired.

TP - nice to have you back.  You forgot to post if anyone was 'thongged'.

Regards,

Ps: have a visitor over here, from this board.  Should I show him the thong yo sent?

Well I did not post last night as I was tired when everything finally settled down and I did not want to forget to include anything.  This was my first major tournament and also my first opportunity to meet some of the posters here at ballreviews.

SrKegler and Mrs Kegler-  What can I say two of the nicest people you ever want to meet.  They are so funny together.  They keep you laughing all the time.  SrKegler is such a smooth bowler.  He finds a line and really gets the ball down the lane.  What more could I ask for either.  I got to witness his solid head pin leave.  I used to think it was just a thing of lore, but he proved it.  He even won a towel for his leave.

Thongprincess-  She was a great doubles partner and one cool lady that has her head together.  She talks herself into striking.  Shoot ya know she has to be a wonderful person I mean she not only had to put up with me in team, but doubles too.  Between her and SrKegler's wife SrKegler better watch himself though.  They don't laugh at his jokes they are ready to whip his butt.  Should have seen this spunky lady when she realized that it was SrKegler that knocked her out of the brackets and the money.

Rick Wunder-  Rick is silky smooth on the lanes.  When I watch him bowl I wish I could be so smooth.  He strokes that ball right into the pocket everytime.  Rick is so easy to talk too.  Has a great amount of knowledge.  I wish I could have spent more time with Rick.

Nicanor-  As somebody who has only bowled for 2 years I am amazed at Nicanor.  His knowledge it is amazing and best of all he is very willing to share it.  He got me through singles.  After team and doubles I was so frustrated it wasn't funny.  He helped me get my head right and find the shot.  I hope I can get my game and knowledge to his level in the next year.  Priceless moment though was watching the male waiter put Nicanor's bib on at dinner.  I know the Peach would have loved it.

SrKegler was right this has made me want to bowl more tournaments.  I have so much I still need to learn and I want to do it right now.  This has re-energized me and I feel like it was a great learning experience with great people.

Got to watch axeweldr and strikinmachine bowl.  Can you say revs.  These guys really turn the ball and smash the pocket.

Thanks for listening and thanks to my team for carrying me

Andy

P.S.  Don't listen to any viscous rumors that may be started about the honorable Rick Wunder or Myself.

Well Mr. Mi Thongprincess was over average all weekend.  I was bagging because I am cheap and in love with money or just bad.  Rick, Nicanor, and SrKegler were too tired to win the tournament from having to carry me through the tournament. So, they were hanging right around their averages most of the time.

Ah yes, the 5lb pins...I got a strike in the 7th frame of my 2nd game.  I figured I was going strikeless, but won the chance to roll in the 8th frame.  It was funny watching solid pocket shots deflect and leave the 5 pin.

Yes, Sr Kegler beat me out of 1st in the brackets.  But then I didn't deserve to win when I shoot a 133 after shooting 225-205  I should have pulled out Petey sooner for that right hand lane.  That was my only really bad game.

FukMi, here are the princess scores:
Team - 172-220-181=573  hdcp 645
Doubles - 225-205-133=563 hdcp 635
Singles - 214-196-189-179=778 hdcp 874
All Event total =1914 hdcp 2154

I came in at 183 and averaged 191.4, not a bad weekend especially with changing lanes after every game.  And as Card said what a great learning experience with a great group of people.

Ragnar, thanks for that info.  I know there is a long way to go before the tourney ends., but it's cool to say I'm in the top 25 for now.

First I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting me during this tournament.  All together we had 15 ball reviews members there.  Most successful outing yet.  Got to meet a great group of people.

Now for the highlites.

I almost made it thru the entire weekend without thongprincess going off on me.  Course with my big mouth, I had to show her it didn't pay to try and run with the big dogs.  She only entered one scratch bracket, ran into me in the finals.  Course I could have bowled lefthanded and still taken the bracket from her.

Old age is sure crap, it took me 9 games to leave my "patented tap".  At least I got something to show for the effort.

Card79 had a very successful outing.  He made $75 for shooting a triplicate.  Of course he was crossing with Nicanor who told him how to "bag" the last ball to lock it up.  Was going to jump him for sandbagging until I realized tournaments don't count for averages.  Great guy, got him hooked now, just have to reel him in next year.

Striknmachine:  This guy throws so much hook, he has to use both hands to try and get the ball down the lane.  Glad he finally got his act together, would have hated to pair him up with Pinkisser next year.

I can see how axewelder got his name.  Sure wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley.  Course with all the splits he left, he could have used an axe to chop some of them down.  Way it was, looked like the pins were "welded" to the floor.

Nino:  I wish everyone else could have got down there to meet this charecter.  Gives me a run for my money clowning around.

Nicanor has sure improved since last year.  Looking forward to seeing him again in September.

For all of those whom I forgot, sorry, just tired.  Got to get rested up and see if I still have a job.  If so will catch up Wednesday during work.

Good news is my list of ballreviewers I've met is now at 101!!  Of course, probably over 1000 if I counted the multiple screen names.

Looking forward to the next one.
