Title: Right Handed Bowler Leaving 8 pins
Post by: Rileybowler on February 10, 2023, 08:28:20 PM
I bowled in a senior league this past Monday and left 5 or 6 eight  pins and would like to know what kind of adjustment I should make for this.

Sorry but I recommend not changing much. Every time I have tried to not leave 8 pins.... I leave splits because I try to get the ball higher on the head pin. It has gotten so bad that when our team leaves a 8 pin... someone gives the guy a hug! Now most of the teams are doing that.

I know....we are weird!

Ball should go off the deck between the 8 and 9 pin. If the pins are set properly,, look to see if your ball is rolling out and deflecting towards the 9 pin.

8 pins come from ball making a strong move through the pocket and chopping 5 straight back. It shouldn't be such a common leave. Maybe the pins just were not being set right.

I would try to change were the ball is coming into the pocket. maybe move more outside and increase speed. But trying to get to cute with where the pocket is is asking for trouble.

Easiest adjustment is just to try using  a different ball. Maybe a change in ball motion will help.
