Rude Female Professional Bowlers
« on: September 09, 2018, 10:34:07 PM »
Has anyone ever been treated rudely (even on a minuscule level) by a female professional bowler during a Pro-Am event? If so, give a name and describe the encounter in as much detail as necessary. Generally, most female professionals are polite with fans but I heard from one Pro-Am participant that one particular female bowler was "snooty" toward him (I will reveal the name if one is curious enough to ask).

In the 25+ years I've been to a LPBT/PWBA Pro-Am event, I have never encountered a lady pro bowler who has been rude. Never. They all have not only been extremely nice, self-effacing, and entirely grateful for the experience and simply being out on tour for us, but they go out of their way to come down off of the idolizing pedestal we put them on and come to meet us.

I never expected to meet someone like Dana Miller-Mackie in my life, and when I was so frozen in my tracks to even say hi to her, she stopped what she was doing, introduced herself to me, and asked how I was doing. And she was my idol. From there, she introduced me to others like Aleta Sill, Anne Marie Duggan, Lisa Wagner, Carol Norman, Dede Davidson, etc. We've been friends ever since.

fast forward to today and wondering if the girls today are just as genial and nice as they were back then? Emphatically yes. KK, Liz (both of them), Zavy, Verity, Josie, Danielle, Shannon (both of them), StefJo, hell, even the girls from Singapore (Jazreel, Cherie, Hui, etc.) are all nice and go out of their way to meet and greet you.

The friendliness and humbleness are huge characteristics that haven't disappeared from the PWBA, both then and now.

BL.

I saw a post on FB were a professional bowler claims a PWBA star was a bit petty. I don't know the situation first hand though, so no telling what actually happened.

Having been to a few PWBA events the past couple of years, I was thinking the same thing.

Perhaps the author of this post can publish his buddies name and tell us about how(and why) he felt the need to be such a dick that someone who doesn't know him would be "snooty".

IT DOESNT MATTER.

So somebody had a bad day.  Or maybe somebody just doesn’t care for someone else.

 That’s life, deal with it.

All just a bunch of petty bullshit. Ain’t nobody around here trying to hear that crap.

He is a "nice guy" who happened to be drunk. (Pro bowler's name) already had a bad enough day on the lanes and was clearly down on herself. My bro sounded very "dopey" (drunk on her as much as he was drunk on alcohol) when he was talking about her to me. I did not see the interaction but he was complaining a bit about her. My best guess is that he came off as extremely awkward around her or she was simply not present with him due to her having a bad day. My bro most likely mistook her withdrawn demeanor as snooty.

Hearsay from a drunk friend is the best kind of eyewitness account.  Its official enter it in the record.

I was highly skeptical of what he said because I have personally never had an issues with any female bowlers at all and pretty much everyone who responded has confirmed that. Mostly like he just needs to watch his consumption of alcohol. It tends to bring out the worst in people like him especially.

With that said being said, it is actually quite impressive how much grace the ladies have out on tour. I certainly cannot say that about everyone on the regular tour!

I'm sure there's absolutely zero chance of a "drunk creeper says something moderately offensive and gets a stink-eye for not being self aware" scenario.

OP must have just wanted to start a new topic.  Initially it sounded like he/she had zero knowledge of any specifics regarding the encounter.  Then comes back and spills are the pertinent details of said encounter.  Slow days on the old ballreviews.com

I don't know the specifics of the encounter itself other than what he told me. It actually did not make sense to me based on my personal experience with her (or any other female bowler I have meet for that matter). I was legitimately curious if anyone has experienced anything another than politeness for PWBA bowlers.

Even with going to a few stops the past 2 years, I never ran into a situation where any of the women were rude.  Even though I've already met Liz Johnson several times, she's always nice.  Also met Missy Parkin, Danielle McEwan, Tannya Roumimper, Katelyn Simpson, Bryanna Cote, Shannon O'Keefe, Rocio Restrepo, Shannon Pluhowsky, Kristina Szczerbinski, CDB, Zavy, Clara Guerrero, Josie Barnes, Erin McCarthy, Anggie Ramirez-Perea, Maria Rodriguez, and Nicole Trudell.  Every single one of them was great to talk to.

Then in Rochester, NY back in 2016, also got to chat with Del Ballard and Dan MacLelland.  Both were awesome to chat with.

I was in Reno for the PWBA National Bowling Stadium USBC Queens stop in May of this year as our League sweepers was held in Reno on that same weekend. I met and talked to lot of PWBA bowlers like Rocio Restrepo, Brianna Cote, Kelly Kulick, Carolyn-Dorin Ballard, Danielle McEwan, Jackie Carbonetto and Clara Guerrero and they are all very nice and went out of their way to make time for you and reply to your questions or photo opportunities if they are not bowling. I will watch them again when I get a chance. It is worth my time as I learn a lot from them as almost all are fundamentally sound and great spare shooters.
