Secretary Suspending Me - Need Help!
« on: October 30, 2009, 03:01:01 PM »
Quick story:

League Secretary, on his own, has decided to suspend me for an altercation over telling someone to pull up their pants.  He, the league secretary, has been telling other bowlers that the suspension will be either 1 year or 2 weeks depending on my reaction when he notifies me in person this coming week.

Longer story:

The bowler misses a spare and proceeds to make a scene of all scenes and blamed me for it.  He goes to the secretary telling him I did this while he was on the approach.  He addresses the issue with me and I told him that was incorrect and was backed up by the insane bowler's team captain.  I thought this was the end of it.

I take the following week off because I do not want to deal with the bowler the following week.  My team captain tells me he was badgering the league officials over the incident all evening, and even bothered my teammates on my whereabouts.

So my team captain gets a call 10days after the incident and the secretary tells him I have been suspended for a year.  But later said he over reacted and said it would be 2 weeks or a year depending on my reaction when they tell me in person.  His mind is made up even after hearing the other team captain.

How can he do this?  I dont think he can do this, at least from what I read in the USBC rule book.  I need options, opinions, or something!

HELP!

Here's my guess. The guy told to pull up his pants was black. He was probably being a little hood rich and was sagging his pants. KraZy probably made it a point to make fun of the way he was wearing them. The guy probably told the secretary KraZy was being racist. KraZy probably has some sort of known history about things like this and thus they finally decided to act on it and suspend him.

I could be wrong but there's definitely a lot we don't know.

As I say often, it's not just WHAT you say, but HOW you say it (and in this case, WHEN you say it)...

First off, I hate seeing guys walking around with their pants hanging off their azzes...but I certainly wouldn't presume to tell anyone other than my son to pull them up, since showing your underwear doesn't break any laws for indecent exposure, that I'm aware of...so really, why it would be any of your business how some other grown azz man wears his clothes is beyond me...

Secondly, even if you absolutely felt like you had to say something, WHEN did you say it? HOW did you say it? Did you wait until you got him aside and address it man-to-man, or did you just call him out in front of a group of people? I'm just wondering what your intent was in the first place...

Good points renman.  But they still have to follow the proper channels & abide by USBC & league rules.  They are jumping the gun.  There is proper protocol & it seems they are violating the integrity of those rules.  2 wrongs don't make a right.

What is USBC going to say to a private center owner that is going to make a difference?

If the dispute is between you and league officers, USBC will possibly help you, but if the dispute is between you and a proprietor, USBC will probably tell you that it can't intervene in a dispute between a bowler and a proprietor. In that case, you may be SOL.

Agreed. I'm in no way defending the actions of the league secretary, not in any way, shape or form...I'm jus' sayin'...

Seems like the Law of Unintended Consequences bit the OP in the butt...

There have been quite a few posts since the original poster last added any comments. Makes it seem as if he isn't ready, willing or able to provide all of the details that some posters have asked for.

I have never heard of a league Sec. suspending anyone...

If there is some type of problem with a bowler, a Captain's meeting is usually called...

And if it was indeed over "pulling up"  pants...I think you should have left it alone... Since your not the pants police...

A dress code is up to the house....  not you...

All it seems like you were doing is looking for trouble... and you found it...

Now was it worth it...

I know this but like I said I can only see it causing this much stink if something like the race card was played.  It's either that or CraZy is known for being a complete a-hole and they were looking for a reason to get him out of the center.  I guess what I'm saying is that there is always two sides to every story and we are only getting one of them, and partially at best.

WoW

No I'm not a complete A-Hole, no I have not upset the league (They are in my favor), no the other bowler in question was not wearing baggy jeans...just ones that fell down every time he bent over.

Yes I have complained to the president (house mechanic) and he apparently does not like me.  I voiced my opinion in wanting my money back when I learned the lanes had been oiled with a mop for a Sport League sanctioned league.

I told the bowler in a matter of fact way to pull his pants up when he mooned half the league bending over prior to the 10th frame.  Prior to his explosion both teams were enjoying a good evening of bowling

I'm not leaving anything out.

I have complaints into the local Association, State Association, and USBC.

I have been banned from league play but I am allowed in the center to watch league bowling while I'm banned.  So the house owner has imposed a 'league suspension' w/o regard to league rules.

Feel free to speculate on the other bowler's side of things.  I'd love to know when its appropriate to explode and threaten another bowler with a bowling ball when someone tells you need to pull your pants up.

If this is the case you have not been banned from the center, they have no leg to stand on in your suspension. Like I said I would fight it tooth and nail and stick it in their face when you win.
