Sharpest Balls on the Market?
« on: February 10, 2013, 06:30:38 AM »
I was just curious, what do people on here feel is the most Angled, sharpest break point ball out there right now?  From the looking i've been doing, the First Blood from Hammer looks to be about the most boards from  the latest breakpoint, but what do folks think?

Check out the Dirty Look, the Wrecker, the Terror, IQ Tour Pearl, and the Vow.
They're the sharpest breakpoint balls I am aware of.

Relative to these, I think the First Blood is less sharp, especially being a solid/pearl combo (hybrid).

It might be a hybrid, but when they showed us the magnified micro structure of the cover it was a lot smoother and finer grained than the other high performance cover it was compared to.

The FCC rating for the cover of every Taboo is 10, the First Blood's FCC cover strength is only 8.

I've seen extremely sharp IQ Tour Pearls. Basically, unlimited recovery.
In the bag:

Roto Grip Magic Gem
Motiv Primal Shock
Hammer Ocean Vibe

Symmetric I'd say the tour pearl. Asymmetric, maybe the hellraiser terror. Any asymmetric with about a .13 mass bias\intermediate differential.

League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

But really... With a radius of roughly 4.3", can any bowling ball be "sharp"?  :P

The sharpest ive thrown is a critical theory with step 2 polish...holy moly...get left folks.  My defiant edge oob was severely uncontrollable for me, as was the anarchy....both of which calmed down over time.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Definitely the IQ Tour Pearl, Critical Theory, Fringe, and Wrecker of the ones I'm familiar with.

Based on BTM's review of First Blood, it was not even close which ball had the most amount of hook based on it's length. To me, this spells "sharpness"

The new Jet Burner is a great angular piece of equipment. Nothing like being able to loft the left gutter hit 5 and rocket back for the first time in years. :-)

The Victory Road Pearl would fit in that category.  The Critical Theory is also one of the most angular I've seen.

I like the 900 Global Dirty Look myself, but the Storm Fire Road, Columbia 300 Vow, Motiv Thrash Frenzy, Brunswick Aura would also be very angular as well.

The sharpest ive thrown is a critical theory with step 2 polish...holy moly...get left folks.  ...

I hesitated in listing balls that I have polished to create a skid/flippy ball, but since you have thrown down the gauntlet  ...

I polished my Theory since it was too strong for the oil I saw. Polished (2000 grit + Snake Oil) makes it the flippiest ball I have ever owned, bar none.

I still think this thread is directed at stock surfaced balls
