Time to check in, everyone. Hopefully, none of us here were at the alley at the time. Everyone okay?

3 Dead, 3 Injured In Shooting At Illinois Bowling Alley
A “person of interest†was taken into custody after the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, according to police.
ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A gunman opened fire inside an Illinois bowling alley, killing three people and injuring three others Saturday night in what authorities believe was a random attack.
A “person of interest†was taken into custody after the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said during a news conference.
O’Shea did not immediately release additional information about the person of interest or the victims. He said he did not think any officers fired their weapons.
Rockford is about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northwest of Chicago.

Terrible ..Thanks for the update!

Not from there but have bowled there. Rockford is going downhill quickly. Lots of crime. Very unfortunate to all involved and here is to a quick recovery for everyone injured.

Yes I saw this on the news, sad.
We bowl there when the state tourney makes its stop.

Bowl king of the hills there pretty often, really sad news.
For what it's worth since most articles aren't touching on it, the bowling alley itself was not open, the restaurant and bar upstairs that has outdoor patio and garage door for open air was open per Illinois Mitigations. Shooter was caught, and it seems like a completely random act of violence. Just a terribly sad situation.

Found out that one of those killed was Jerome Woodfork.
I bowled against him a few times long ago. He was one of Rockford's best, in their hall of fame I believe.
My heart goes out to ALL those affected.

Back in the 80's when I lived in Rockford Jerome was one of my best friends. We competed together in 5 leagus. He was a ferocious and tenacious competitor but one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. R.I.P Jerome

There are 3 places I won’t bowl at after hours. Hillside Bowl (Hillside) anywhere in Elgin/Carpentersville or anywhere in Rockford.
Rockford has been a slum for quite some time.
One of those killed, Jerome Woodfork, I knew for many years. What a tragedy and my thoughts are with his family.

Sorry to hear this for all of you who knew him.....sounds like a heck of a great dude with quite a legacy, not only for his performance on the lanes but (perhaps more importantly) his value to the bowling community up there.....
Absolutely senseless tragedy.

I came here just to check to see if anyone had posted about this. I've lived in Rockford my whole life. I got to know Jerome very well over the years. That man loved bowling, but I think he loved competing and just being around others even more. Going up against him in King of the Hill was always a treat, because you KNEW he wasn't going to make a mistake, and he would certainly let you know if you made one yourself! Thing is, he was never mean-spirited about any of his trash talk. He liked everyone.
He was a heck of a bowler and person. I miss my friend.
