What do you shop for the most on online bowling shops?

I shop for/buy everything online.  My PSO isn't open weekends, and has less than convenient hours during the week.  Therefore I order what I need online.  When I need a ball drilled, I try to coordinate it with a day off in order to drop the ball off when they're open, and then pick it up a week later after work on the one night they are open until 7.  Even then I can't get there until 6:30 so that is just enough time to make sure it fits, get any adjustments, pay and leave before they close.

It has been almost 2 years since I had a new ball drilled just because it is such a hassle getting to the pro shop.  They do amazing work, so changing isn't an option.  I really need a new solid asym (my current one is 6 years old) and have been putting it off for several months now.

They have my specs on file, so theoretically yes.  9 times out of 10 they are with customers and don't answer their phone.  Or they aren't in the shop.  If they do answer, they like to get price and availability and then call back to confirm before actually ordering from the distributor.  That can take a couple of days right there.  The distributor only delivers one day per week...so if you order after delivery day that is another delay.  So it's way easier said than done.

If they would just open on Saturdays from like 9-12 or 10-2 or something it would be perfect.  They are currently open 28 hours per week, just not at a time that works for people that have to work "normal" hours or have to drive across town to get there.

Like I said, they do amazing work once you can get in there to see them.  It's probably better that way...discourages me from buying too many bowling balls 😆

Is the shop at a standalone place, or is it inside an alley? If the latter, do they have youth leagues? If they do, then it definitely is a bad move to NOT be open on Saturdays, as that leaves no option for youth bowlers to get any work done on their gear should they need it, especially if their parents can’t get them to the shop during the week.

It's an a bowling center, and they do have Saturday junior leagues.  That's why it is surprising they don't have Saturday morning hours

If he is like my PSO, he is probably bowling in league or tournaments somewhere on Saturdays.

If he is like my PSO, he is probably bowling in league or tournaments somewhere on Saturdays.

This is where he shouldn't be a solo person shop, otherwise he's trapped every day between doing what he wants to do (bowl, relax, etc.) and what he needs to do (work to keep a roof over his head).

I can get if there are some tournaments on a Saturday, and in particular a Saturday morning, but not every single Saturday morning where he can't help the customers who are going to be not only his future as a PSO, but for the entire game. At the very least, he should get someone to work with him and get the missing revenue he's passing up with youth bowlers.

As someone that has been in a pro shop on too many Saturdays during youth leagues to count, the revenue you speak of from youth bowlers is a fairy tale.

Online shops like Buddies will also drill your balls for you. I think they need you to send ball that has already been drilled to get your specs. I don't use them myself, but have heard good things about the service they provide.

Ok I buy mostly accessories like ball cleaner, etc. Shops only have maybe 1 kind and it is usually what they get the cheapest. I did not know balls and bags and shoes were bought online a lot but i think I am heading that direction
