Should I move up to 16lbs?

Your comments are appreciated!

I currently Bowl with 15lbs and am soeed dominant. My MPH naturally is 21 and through working with a coach I can get down to 16.5 if I'm really conscious about it. Has anyone been in this situation and moved up to 16?  I would like to Bowl at 16.5 on a regular basis without having to really think about it.

for the last couple years I have been in transition from 16 lbs to 15 lbs; using both weights in league.  sometimes in my sport league using both weights the same night as the lanes transition across 4 games.

it terms of the timing of swing and ball speed I see no difference between the 2 weights.

Looks like you would have a hella journey replacing all that you have listed in the bag. I think you would eventually adapt to the 16 lbs and end up throwing it over 16.5mph again.

I would continue working with a coach to get mechanics dialed in to the speed you prefer instead. If you have a lower backswing and a free backswing I think you can naturally get it how you want. I'm not a coach though so I'm sure you already have some tools from your coach to make it happen.

When I returned to the game over a decade ago I started with 14lbs. I had a chronic wrist issue at the time and stuck with it even my wrist improved over the years.  During my coaching session several years later my coach notice that my speed was pretty fast and suggested to go up in weight.  I was around 18 mph down lane prior to the change in weight.

Justrico suggested going up to 15lbs and I owned 28 bowling balls at the time. It wasn't a problem getting rid of them. Sold 22 out of the 28 balls. I currently own 8 balls since the change 8/9 yrs ago.

I moved down from 16 to 15 a few years ago due to aging knee issues. Going down just a pound made a surprisingly big difference . I still have aches and pains but not like before. However, I noticed that I get more deflection with the 15 pounders, especially on lighter pocket hits. This is no surprise because I am a speed dominant stroker. If my knees could take it, I would not hesitate going back to 16 pounds.

I went up from 15 to 16lbs a few seasons ago as I was becoming speed dominant.  The extra weight kept my speed in check and helped me get my ball started up earlier with a smoother motion down the lane which improved my carry.
I've since had injuries and have dropped back down to 15lbs, but if you have the strength and want to find a way to cut down on your speed, I'd say its worth a consideration.
