Title: Skin protection/tape
Post by: NY Mike on August 23, 2018, 10:55:25 AM
Had a rough summer with getting a good feel with thumb holes in all of my equipment.  Went down to the lanes last night and gave tape on the thumb a try for first time, loved how smooth I was able to get out of the ball and probably will be using going forward.  Last night I picked up Vise (beige) tape (10pcs fo $5.00) from vending machine.

Q:  for those using tape which brand due you prefer, Vise ? Storm? other and why?    All thoughts and opinions for all are welcomed.  Thanks.

Genesis has been in my box for almost a year now and i love it. Vise is good also and i have no complaints.

I've used both the Vise Hada and Genesis. I prefer the Genesis tape and have mainly used the red and blue versions.

Last I checked you can still buy a sample pack of the Genesis tape that has the 5 different versions they offer so you're able to see which you prefer

I too really like the Genesis tape. They have 5 different versions from very thin designed for quick release, to relatively thick with a slower thumb exit.

I've been using the Red Vise HADA precut for years and swear by it. Haven't tried anything else, but one of these days I might pick up a trial pack of the Genesis stuff, seems to be a tad cheaper than the Vise precut or at least, the local shop sells it a tad cheaper.

My thumb compresses a bit, so I start with a piece of Turbo (beige) from a roll. I usually layer a pre cut Hada Patch (red or blue) strip over the Turbo tape. The pre cut Hada Patch strip stays in place very well.

Master bowling tape is another good brand---comes in a variety of textures. The Master green tape is the thickest tape that I have found. Check bowlwithmaster.com
