It does seem like the PBA is using Cheetahr pattern a bunch this year...

Anoyone else think that "scorpion" pattern from two weeks ago looked an awful lot like a house shot?

I actually bowled on the PTQ Wednesday and I was surprised / disappointed at how easy the pattern played (at least for others not me ).  I did not score well mostly because I did not consistently send the ball out to the first board.  There was some room for error, I just did not execute well.  If the ball hit the one board down the lane, it made the turn and hit the pocket.  Two of the pros I crossed with (Jon Van Hees and Justin Warhol) made the round of 64.  This was my first PTQ and I had a good time bowling in it, I just wished I had bowled better my last two games...

What are you talking about?  When Scroggs is at the bottom or in the middle, he's going up the boards outside 5.  He just doesn't always have those couple of boards.  As good as he is, he doesn't strike me (doh!) as the most versatile or adjustable guy around.  I guess the fact that he does so well without needing to be especially versatile is somewhat telling.

Merkins – Reading the note you posted says to me that conditions have changed.

You can say the pattern hasn’t changed but if you are doing additional stripping then it has changed the scoring dynamics of the pattern.

That used to be one of the bigger comments I got in past was how the backends got tighter and tighter during the week as the lane memory of the house shot faded.

Sure HPL versus Anvilane versus Proavilane versus wood will score differently but since the PTQ scores for the whole field have been higher virtually every week something else in the mix.
