Smoke Free Bowling Alleys.....
« on: February 26, 2008, 04:13:05 AM »
I hear more and more about bowling alleys starting to go smoke free, some completely and others during certain hours.  However, here in Iowa they are debating a statewide ban on public smoking...I won't dish out all the details but this would include all bowling alleys.

So my question is, would you actually give up bowling if you couldn't smoke while you did it?

Well I have to agree on this one. It is all about taking away OUR rights. If you don't think so you are kidding yourself. I don't smoke but do enjoy a cigar now and then.  And I will say you or me have more chance of getting something sitting behind a bus or truck in rush hour traffic then breathing smoke from a cigar or cigarette. This is how the govt gets us to give away our rights buy us telling them to take them away. And the next thing will be people who are over weight. They will start with how people who are over weight are costing the system x amount of dollars each year and we (the people) need to do something about it. So we will say your right I'm tired of paying high insurance because of these people lets make them lose weight. That's how it started with smoking were paying high premium's because of the smokers, has anybody' insurance really gone down since less people are smoking?

It's a shame that every year more and more rights are taken away and no one cares.

That's my rant I'm done.
Thanks

Can someone please find the % of states that DIDNT have the voters pass the smoking ban?  I hear all this crap about right being taken away when it was the voters that were responsible not the government.  I live in Ohio and we voted for the ban so we took our own rights away because the majority is smart enough to know cigarettes = bad.

Above is an example of a "last straw" comment.^^^

[rant] Rights my azz. You have the right to blow your toxic sewage in the air? YOU KNOW second hand smoke causes cancer. YOU KNOW SMOKING KILLS! IT HAS BEEN PROVEN! What part of DEAD do you not understand dude? D-E-A-D damnit! You have the right to kill my friends and family? Lean over and pull your head out of your arse. You are an ignorant, selfish and pathetic person. You have rights in the greatest country in the world! Wake up! Smoking is NOT a right. It is a privilege! Privileges can be taken away... This applies to YOU also, Lane1bwler300 [/rant]

Sandra would make me completely strip right as I came in the doorway and head straight for the shower every Thursday night after bowling.  Now that the center is smoke free that doesn't happen anymore.  Hmmmm....     lol   I know that the center blames loss of bowlers on the smoking ban but I find that hard to believe.  I am glad now that I spend almost every night up there that it is no smoking.
