PAP Question
« on: December 21, 2007, 02:45:47 AM »
I have two different ball drillers I go to (long story) anyway one says my PAP is 5 over 1/4 up and the other guy says it's 4 over and 1/4 up.  My question is: depending on which one is right how will having the wrong PAP affect things?  Thanks

An inch difference in PAP is a pretty significant difference in ball reaction.  I'm surprised that your drillers are in disagreement, as a 4" PAP is pretty low by today's standards and it seems like you'd be able to tell that's the correct one (or not) just by looking at the release, ignoring the ball track.

Has either been confirmed?  How are they measuring?  Looking at the oil rings?  Armadillo?  Piece of tape?

They both looked at oil rings.  I'm going to go back after christmas and have it rechecked, just wondering wha the effects would be thanks

Did either driller mark the PAP with white tape and have you throw it to see if it appears stationary for the first 10 ft or so?  That's the positive test that confirms proper location, and should be done every time a PAP location is determined.  --  JohnP

What ball did you test it on?

You should use a low flaring ball, plastic preferably.

Ther Armadillo tool is so convenient.
