Title: Spinner Foot Switch?

I purchased one of the Vertex 1/2 hp spinners, but did not think I wanted the foot switch, so did not order it.  Now I am thinking that I do.  I looked at Harbor Freight and they have two different kinds.  One will power up whatever is plugged into it as long as you are stepping on the switch, while the other one will turn a device when you step on the switch and the device will stay powered until you step on the switch again.  It then turns off.
My question is this.  If you use a foot switch on yours, what kind do you prefer?

I use the first one, there's a bit of safety in being able to step off the switch and have it stop.
